I have replaced the fuel filter and immediately afterwards the vehicle refused to start. I noticed that the fuel was not being pumped to the filter so I assumed that there is an aie problem. We used compressed air to blow into the fuel tank and eventually the fuel reached the fuel filter and started but once the vehicle parks overnight, it refuses to start in the morning again with the same problem. It seems to be a pressure problem.

You really like to do things the hard and questionable way

Did you check fuel pressure?
Do you hear the pump run?
Did you put an amp clamp and meter on the pump fuse?

Why would you blow air into the fuel tank,
to try and ruin countless parts in the EVAP
System?

Don't get air in the system, you turn key and start vehicle,it will
be gone in about 10 seconds, blown through the injectors

The fuel pump may be retired, mechanically or electrically

You'll enjoy removing the fuel tank.

Fuel pump

If your fuel pump failing the first thing you may notice is you will have trouble starting the engine after it sits for a while. You may also notice that your gas gauge is unsteady and flickers or vibrates. If you continue to operate the vehicle, eventually the vehicle will get harder and hard to start and eventually will not start. You can test the fuel pressure to be sure the pump has preasure. These symptoms can also be the fuel filter so start with the fuel filter first. If it is just hard starting after it sits then you should replace the fuel check valve on the engine. When the check valve is failing the pressure bleeds off over time as the vehicle sits.

How to Replace a Fuel Pump and Fuel Filter in a Cadillac

The Cadillac has an electric fuel pump, and you should check its fuses and relays and ensure you have fuel before inspecting the pump. If your vehicle still has difficulty getting fuel, you can clean or replace the fuel pump.

Things You'll Need:
Fuel pump kit
Fuel tank sending unit wrench
Torque wrench Replace the fuel pump is challenge.
1.Determine which fuel pump your Cadillac Escalade will need. This depends not only on the make and model, but also the engine size. Models built from 1998 to 2000 have a 5.7 L engine, 2002 to 2006 models may have a 5.3 L or 6.0 L engine and models built after 2006 have a 6.2 L engine.
2.Prepare your vehicle for fuel pump servicing. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Relieve the fuel system pressure, drain and disconnect the fuel tank.
3.Disconnect the fuel and evaporative emission lines from the fuel tank. Remove the fuel sender assembly and the seal with a fuel tank sending unit wrench, and pull the strainer off the fuel sender. Remove the fuel pump's electrical connector and its retaining clip from the fuel level sensor. Remove the fuel sensor's electrical connector from the fuel sensor in addition to its retaining clip.
4.Remove the fuel level sensor by squeezing the locking tangs and remove the fuel pressure sensor. Discard the old fuel tank seal and fuel strainer.
5.Install the new fuel pump using the items included in the kit and be to replace the fuel strainer and seal. Use a torque wrench to tighten the attaching bolts for the fuel tank strap to 30 ft. lbs.
The following is the instructions of replacing fuel filter:
The symptoms of a bad fuel filter include a loss in horse power, very sluggish acceleration and, in some cases, difficulty starting. Replacing the fuel filter is always the best policy because you can't reliably unclog a filter. In the Cadillac Escalade, 2002-2006, they replace easily. The 5.3L engine filter replaces in a different way. Manufacturers suggest replacement of fuel filter every 60,000 miles.
Replace the fuel filter is easy.
1.Locate the fuel filter. Normally this is on the passenger side wheel well or just inside the engine compartment. In the Cadillac Escalade, it mounts on the fuel tank and is integral with the fuel pump assembly. Before removal of the filter, disconnect the negative battery cable and relieve the pressure in the fuel system.
2.Lift the vehicle to gain access to the fuel pump assembly. Remove the threaded fittings from the filter and cap the fuel pipes to prevent contamination. Inspect the o-rings on the fuel pipes and replace if deteriorated.
3.Change the filter and reattach the fittings immediately. Tighten the fittings to 18 foot pounds. Remount to the clip and lower the vehicle. Reconnect the negative battery cable and start the ignition. To fill the filter and get gas to the ignition system, turn the ignition on for two seconds and then off for ten seconds. The vehicle should start after this.
4.Replace the fuel filter at the first opportunity. Filters are not serviceable items, they are disposable. Never rely on a clogged fuel filter for any length of time

How do i remove the fuel filter to replace it

These are your options James: Under vehicle, center, below seating area, mounted on top of fuel tank, in fuel pump module. That will be the component location.
Step1
Release the pressure form the system. This step is very important in order to avoid a personal injury or something else.
Disconnect the fuel pump fuse or rely. Then turn the engine on, just enough to consume what is in the fuel line. Once the engine start stilling shut it off immediately. Keep some shop rag when yuo unplug the fuel lines, some back pressure could remain there.
Step2
For your vehicle it seems the filter comes integrated in to the fuel pump. You have to remove the fuel pump.

Engine starts and then immediately dies. I flood it with gas, it will start, spudder and then die. if no gas is given, the engine dies immediately.

It sounds like either you have a fuel pump problem, or possibly your security system is not recognizing your key properly and engaging injector cut mode. If the vehicle has a SECURITY light, it should be flashing when you open the door and or insert the key, when you trun the key, the light should go out and stay out if the key is recognized. If the light continues flashing, your fuel injectors are not being activated because THEFT is suspected. The quickest fix would be see if you have the original spare key from the dealer (black plastic covered factory key) and try your spare. Frequently, a key gets old and fails but the spare will still work fine. If the spare works, you can purchase a new master key and then program it yourself to replace the defective key. If not, you need to determine if THEFT mode is in fact active, or if the fuel pump has failed or some other fuel problem is occurring. Both key failures and fuel pump failures cause symptoms like yours, and are common enough problems to be suspect.

My 1996 blazer wont start

Time to replace the fuel filter. It's not a hard job actually. And it's a VERY common thing to go wrong. I'd change the fuel filter and then run some fuel treatment through the tank afterwards. Believe it or not, I've noticed that a nice bottle of fuel treatment really conditions a fuel filter well.

Hope this helps you out.

Vehicle just keeps cranking wont start.

Make sure that your fuel presure is up to at least 60 psi if not that could be your problem. If not, make sure you are getting spark, if not could be your Crank sensor or ingniton module ECM. Usually if your Engine control module wouldn't be bad because of your fuel pump is working, but may not be putting out the proper pressure for the fuel system. Fuel Pumps are a Problem with that year..
