I have this camera, and the Panasonic software that comes with it gives the best results. You connect to the windows computer with a USB cable. I have a spare software disc.

Usually you use it through the firewire port. If you don't have firewire or software you could buy a pinnacle set up that comes with hardware/software. You can find it at a circuit city/best buy.
Let me know if you need anything else.
Thanks,

The driver for this device can be download from the link below

http://www2.panasonic.com/consumer-electronics/support/Cameras-Camcorders/Camcorders/DVD-Camcorders/Drivers-Downloads/model.VDR-D300.D#ts

click the link. download the driver and the instruction manual.
Install the driver on your pc. You can try this driver on windows 98, nt, 2000 and xp. But this driver is specifically designed for windows vista.

I hope this works for you.

INCOMPATIBLE DISC

Good news.. you should be able to put the disc back in to the device that you recorded in on... and go to the menu to do the finalize... in fact, you may be able to add more to you disc prior to the finalize process if you want...
once it's finalized you should be able to view on other equipment... your files should all be there as well.

Let me know how you do!

Importing Videos to Microsoft Movie Maker

Hi, i have a perfect solution but it costs around £30. Buy Ulead VideoStudio 11 plus. Its excellent, for one thing, it picks up your disk when you put it in and also you can edit it. I had the same problem but since i got this is was fixed!

Help - Capturing Video from a DVD-R Disc

I took the plunge based on manufacturers marketing claims and sales level tech support - Mistake! Panasonic VDR M50. The DVD-R disks are fairly straightforward. They can be played in my DVD video player and my PC, and I can use Fleximage DVD-to-AVI for conversion to a file format I can use for editing. The camera creates sequencial files for some reason and this software will only convert the first file. Very frustrating! I ended up playing the DVD-R on my DVD video player and using the video cable, transferred the video back to a DVD RAM disk on the camera. See DVD RAM problems below. The software that came with the camera has so far proven worthless. I have struggled with the DVD RAM disks. They are fabulous to use in shooting and editing on the camera but I cannot for the life of me get the DVD format converted off the DVD RAM. They cannot be read by my DVD video player or my DVD drive on my PC. I can see and even transfer the files to the PC through USB but for some reason, the DVD-to-AVI software will not recognize the files that were recorded and I cannot use the file format from the DVD ROM for anything other than viewing the video. Again, the software that came with the camera has so far proven worthless.
