1. Put a blank CD or DVD into the device you wish to write with.
2. When you install Nero, it will create shortcuts to many different programs. You want to double-click on the icon labeled Nero Burning Rom to start the program.
3. When Nero starts, it may start in the New Compilation screen. If it does, click on the Cancel button.
4. At the top of the Nero window will be a drop down menu containing a list of devices that you can write to. Make sure the CD or DVD Recording device that you wish to write to is selected.
5. Then click on the Recorder menu and choose Burn Image.
6. This will open a windows called Open which will allow you to navigate to the image file you would like to write. Navigate to the image and click once on it to select it. Then press the Open button.
7. A Burn Compilation screen will now open. At this screen put a check marks next the check boxes labeled Write and Finalize CD (or Finalize DVD)
8. When the writing is complete there will be a message box from Nero stating it is finished. Simply click on the OK button.
9. If you are finished, click on the Done button and Nero will eject the newly created CD or DVD.

My CD/DVD burner isn't burning at the proper speed. I burned a disc that should have been 66:53, but it came out 66:38 (making the music a little bit fast). I did a burner test, with Exact Audio Copy and...

The speed is determined by the speed of the burner for the type of writable media (disk) you are using and the speed the writable media supports. (For example: I have CD-R disks from years ago that don't write as fast as the CD-R disks I purchased recently.)

The lowest of these two speeds is the max write speed.

Unfortunately, there is a ridiculously large number of disk writing standards which affect write speeds. Check this out: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CD_recorder

If this helps please vote for my solution.

How do I download my documents to a cd? I have it on the screen and it says '' files ready to be written to the cd''. What do I do next?

I'll Tell You a Easy way of writing files into a CD.
First Delete all the Files there that say "Files ready to be written on a CD" by just selecting them all or one by one and delete them.
Now First insert a CD into the CD writer.
Now fo to the Location where you have you files store, select the ones you want to write and click edit on the top and click copy.
Now go into the CD driver and right click any where and click paste.
Now it would say the same thing there like it said before " Files.....".
On the left side of your sceen their would be an option saying "write these files in to a CD", Click that.
IT would give you a wizard for writting the files onto a CD follow that and the files would be copied to a CD.

Using roxio creator basic v9 when i burn disc its writing to the disc (700MB) without giving free space,i just made a copy of original cd which has 162MB,after writing to new disc, showing 700MB used..

Burned CDs always show as being fully used. That is so users don't think they can just copy files onto it. The way to find out how much free space is to subtract the amt. of space used from the capacity of the CD. Also most CDs are burn-once so after you burn it you can't add or delete files anyway. Only CD or DVD "RW" (read-write) discs allow you to re-use them.

Adding data file to existing CD-RW disc in Roxio

First off, for your information your Roxio is OLD, they now have Roxio 9.
But that will not solve your problem. Can you open the CD and copy and paste anything? Or is the CD "Read Only"? If read only, it is because when you "Finalized" the CD you optioned the "Write Protect" making writing to the disk impossible. This protects the disk from erasure too.
You will need to use another disk.
Otherwise you can just use the same method you used before to write to the disk, or Copy and Paste, or Drag and Drop.
The Write Protect is specific to the program you are running.
However, Roxio 7 and 9 program I have used ask, "Do you want to be able to write to this disk again?" or words to that effect. All you need to do is just put a check in the box (or not, if you want to write to disk again). This happens when you are ready to remove the CD or DVD from the drive. Then the program runs a "Finalizing" program before the disk automatically ejects.
