    Hello,

This is a small video on how the microwave behaves.....

It's possible that I can change those things myself? I have some experience with computers :)

exact same problem! had a master electrician take the whole thing apart. there is some piece that you can't get to that is causing this and i need to get a parts list to see what it is and if it can be replace. i've not used my microwave for over 2 years because of this. there is a plastic piece that says 'remove only for service' - this is where the noise & burning is coming from. we could see it lighting up (not normal). will report back!

Is there any burning smell after you try to heat with the microwave?

In most cases of no heat with a loud noise, it's a bad high voltage diode or magnetron.

Posting that video may help if you get the sound clearly.

Okay, that sound is arcing. Good job on the video!

Have you removed the waveguide cover at the top of the cooking area yet?

You can get it off probably by pulling the rivet, then turning the cover and pulling it down. Your manual will cover that.

You should then run it without the cover to see if the stirrer is turning. If not, it will not heat right and it will arc.

That would probably mean you need a stirrer motor.

Another thing that will make it arc is food or grease on or behind the stirrer cover.

If the stirrer is running and there's no grease buildup arcing, then my last suspect would be the magnetron, which should have a 5-9 year warranty.

If it's out of the 1-year full warranty, you would have to pay Sears for labor. You can save money by taking it to the servicer yourself.

Please let me know what you find out.

After pressing start, light goes on but not operating. Senor issue?

I had a similar problem once with an older Kenmore microwave, which at the time, were actually made by LG. After removing the cabinet, there was a small automotive type fuse in a clip-in fuse holder which proved to be "open" after checking it for continuity with a test meter. I replaced the fuse with the EXACT type and rating, and continued to use the oven for several more years until I gave it away. Please note, that microwave ovens are not something that you want to mess around with. Make absolutely certain that you have unplugged it before doing anything. In my case, I suspect the after several years of trouble-free use, the fuse had failed, -likely due to age. In your case, it may be a similar issue, so you might want to see if your microwave oven has a similar replaceable fuse. Beyond that, I would strongly suggest taking it to an approved service facility. Also, NEVER operate the microwave until you have replaced all covers, cabinet, etc. to it's original state.

Twice my new kenmore microwave has just started beeping with the error code E11 appearing on the screen.Have to unplug it to stop it. WHat is going on?

I think this microwave oven uses an inverter to control the power output of the magnetron. Usually the microwave will advertise this feature with a trade name like "accu-wave" or "true-power" or some similar label on the front of the microwave. Assuming that is the case here, then the E11 error means a bad inverter

I have a kenmore over the counter microwave #721.80032 that is a 2010 model, and the microwave oven just stopped and doesn't work now, but the exhaust part does. Any ideas about what to look for or even...

The door switch is a common problem. Locate it at the front edge of the door. Handle side and try pressing it with a pen or something similar. Start momentarily to see if it works. Do not run for long because of leaking microwaves. That is a good place to start. Here is a link for more help. Kenmore Microwave 721 80032700Troubleshooting Repair Help

Model 721.63259301 does not heat, everything else is ok. 5 years old, repair? Replace? Thank You Fred Liethen

My Kenmore 721.63259301 would not heat items up so I came here and saw the parts required and was just about to order them when I checked the online owners manual and found this. FULL FIVE-YEAR WARRANTY ON
THE MAGNETRON For five years from the date of purchase, if the
magnetron in this Kenmore microwave oven
fails due to a defect in material or workmanship,
Sears will repair it free of charge.
My microwave has a manufacture date of July 2009 so I will be taking it right to the closest Sears repair center for a free repair. I suggest everyone do the same.

Kenmore microwave 80404400 no power

This is typical of the 20 amp fuse blown. It can blow due to slamming the door or even opening the door to quickly while it is running. It could also blow if there is a failure of one of the door interlock switches. This fuse is ceramic and looks similar to a cylinder automotive fuse and is located behind the control panel on this model.

I have a kenmore 721.80523 microwave oven when I plug it in it sounds like it starts running without programing anything or hitting start you can set the clock but if you try to heat anything when you hit...

It appears your magneto or power supply has failed in this instance.

For replacement parts - head on over to PartSelect.com or RepairClinic.com and enter in your full model number for a full parts listing.
I recommend both sites because ...

FixYa has no affiliation with either site - I have been using and recommending them for years - trouble free.

PartSelect has a great schematic database for locating the part on your unit and great "testimonials" for each part that often times includes HOW-TO information.
RepairClinic has pictures of each part they sell and also a great how-to and troubleshooting for basic repairs.

If your unit has never been serviced - there should still be an original service manual enclosed in plastic taped to the inside of the shell.
In the service manual are Error codes, maintenance procedures, and troubleshooting steps you can follow.

Anything too complicated or beyond your scope should be handled by a professional.

If you think you want to tackle the repair - and have gotten stuck on a step - reply to your question and I will be glad to help you out.

Thanks for using FixYa - a 4 THUMBS rating is appreciated for answering your FREE question.

Not Working

Its most likley your control board located behind the touch pad. It may also be a temp. fuse mounted on the cabinet inside the control panel. You can ohm out the fuse to see if its good , if so replace the board.

Kenmore mirowave # 72162643200 handle is broken

I have the exact same problem and the cost for a tech to replace the door is $80 less than buying a new one. They have to remove the unit from the cabinets and pull off the exterior box to unscrew the door hinge. Mine is only 3 years old. I also bought a new oven range. Never really use it. Decided it was time to use the self cleaning. It did not work. $280 to put a new board in. 4 months later I went to clean it and again it did not work. The f*^ing thing only cost $500. Decided Easy off will have to do. Kenmore s*&ks

As for the door... I very CAREFULLY used super glue/ gel and it did the job!

Kenmore 721.80524500 makes a buzzing, grinding noise

Your problem is due to the "magnetron" arcing to the wave guide within the microwave. Picture someone arc-welding stuff together inside the microwave casing, that's essentially what's happening. It is a fire hazard and you should stop using the microwave immediately. As far as I know, there isn't a recall on that particular model (though there was on another similar Kenmore/Whirlpool model) so if it's out of warranty, you're out of luck.
