System not reading game disc but will play dvd

Your system needs a mod chip to play games on a disc that was not created by Sony.
Most ps2 games are DVD's only some are cd's.. All of the ps1 games are cd's so if you burnt it onto a dvd its not going to work.

Some time when that happens the system configuration is wrong reset the configuration to game play on. That should let you play Movies and game.But!, make sure you remove the disk.

3.Bad DVD Drive. Sometimes other components inside of the DVD drive can become bad such as the motor that spins the disk, the motors that open the tray, etc, etc. You can get a new DVD drive to just replace everything,including the laser, in one shot but there is a catch. The XBOX 360's DVD drive is tied to the motherboard using a software lock.The easiest way to overcome this lock is to buy the exact same manufacture DVD drive that is in your system now, remove the circuit board from the old DVD drive (which contains the software key) and transfer the circuit board into the new DVD drive that you purchase. If you do this simple procedure, there is no flashing involved. Also Check the regional code on the disc which should be compatible with the regional codes which can be played by the PS3

Basically our question is not clear ..
It seems that you cannot play the games or when you insert the discs it reads them as DVD's

Game discs and consoles are made for specific countries and regions. If you try to play a game disc that is made for a specific country or region on a console that is made for another country or region, the game disc does not play.

You will get this error when your laser is in need of replacing. The other message you will get is open tray. If your system will play regular movie dvd's but not games then replace the laser. You can find them pretty cheap on ebay.

try the disk on another console first m8 if that works the chances are you need to buy a new dvd rom for your unit the laser only have limited play time on theese consoles b4 they start to fail to read disk's all games systems are the same
