Amana refrigerator The freezer is cooling normally, but the fridge is not.  The fan will come on, but the air blowing out is not cold

I have replaced the defrost timer and thermostat and tested the element and it's good. The origionial problem was the fan wasn't getting a ground and I jumped a wire off the freezer door light and now it cools fine and goes on and off with the thermostat as it should but will not auto defrost. Never sends voltage to the heater element. Suggestions? They come out of the back wall(wiring to the element) and I really don't want to move the freeser out if I don't have to as the water input is a small copper tube and may break. Help please??

It sounds like it is not defrosting. check in the back wall of the freezer to see if there is a buildup of snowy frost. if there is even the slightest amount then the refrigerator is not defrosting. possible causes: defrost timer heating element in freezer thermo switch in freezer

My bottom freezer gets cold but the top part (fridge) does not. Why? I have an older first addition style

Its defrost problem. When the freezer section gets cold and reaches its required cooling temperature, after that the frost on freezer section starts defrosting and the cooling fan in the freezer section blows this cool air from freezer to fridge. But if the defrost cycle does not start then over ice will get collected on freezer ventilations and that will block the air passing section from freezer to fridge, so the freezer gets cool but fridge section does not cool.Try manual defrost by unplugging the refrigerator from main power outlet for 24 hours then reconnect it and check, if the same problem is noticed again,. If yes then its defrost board problem. The defrost board located in the back of fridge section. You can get required parts from www.repairclinic.com or from online sears part site. ------------- Thank you.

Your refrigerator probably has an issue with its "damper control assembly", which regulates cold air coming from the freezer compartment. Contact an appliance service company.

Freezer is cold, refrigerator is warm. sounds

check the fan from the freezer side if its not running /possible frozen or jammed will cause the refridge side to be warm the fan blows the freezer air into the fridge side to cool their is also a damper or duct control which can build up if no blockage or debris test fan for power if power than test fan it self if not running than repair or replace as necessary

Freezer working but Fridge not cooling... Tried adjusting temp to max cool and nothing. Unblocked vents, still nothing... Pulled off back panel cover to vacuum and brush... still nothing... help??? In case...

The fridge gets its cold air from the freezer through a vent(damper) between the freezer and fridge. The fan in the freezer blows air through it. Make sure this fan is running. You may have to hold the door switch in for it to run. There is a flap you adjust with the fridge temp. control. Make sure it's opening and closing when you adjust the fridge temp.
The problem could be the electronic control if you have one or the mechanical linkages.

If the evaporator coils behind the back panel of the freezer are icing up because of auto defrost failure that will stop the circulation of cold air and eventually affect the freezer too.
