With the water off remove the sprayer head, hold hose and slowly turn on the water and see if anything comes out, it may just be that the head is clogged up and needs to be cleaned or replaced.

Sounds like you have sediment in the water lines. You should be able to remove the cap at the end of the faucet where the water comes out and clean the screen. At the end of the faucet is a cap that screws off. Behind it will be a strainer/screen that you can wash out. Hope this helps you.
mabe the straw it self is blocked , try to clean out the inside of the straw and the head part and let me know if that dosent help and ill brain storm some more
We had this same problem. We twisted off the sprayer cap to access the diverter valve under the trigger. The nylon diverter was stuck down into the cavity and was not popping out when the trigger was released. We pushed it down several times with needle nosed pliers to release it then applied a drop of household oil lubricant with the valve pushed all the way in. Then pushed and released several times to work the lubricant around the sides of the valve. After re-assembly, the sprayer seems to work perfectly again.

The problem is probably in the floating valve that is located under the spout. This valve floats up and into the base of the faucet when you push the handle on the sprayer to use it. This redirects the water to the sprayer.
They get stuck and then don't close off the spout properly
Short of teraring the faucet clean apart they are almost impossible to fix. Turning the water off and disconnecting the supply hoses, then blowing air back through the faucet spout may dislodge whatever is in there. This has worked for me in the past... and it has not work also...

If you used the teflon tape to seal the threads on the sprayer connection. Make sure the tape is has not blocked the line. Check for any kinks in the hose and it is not pinned against something.
Turn on the cold water and hold the sprayer over the sink and activate. If nothing happens while still holding the sprayer move from cold water to hot. If still no water there maybe something in the line preventing the sprayer from receiving water.
Highly doubt there is anything mechanically wrong but it has happened before. See if you can swap it for a new one.
check the sprayer handle by disconnecting and blowing into it and pressing sprayer handle and/or for possible kink at main body or hose by disconnected sprayer point hose into sink and turn on water. If no water the the diverter in main body is not working properly and needs to be reassembled or replaced
You will need to either replace center "shower diverter"assembly or a quicker fix would be to remove old tub water fill spout and replace with a "pull up diverter knob" type water spout. Cost about 10 dollars Hdepot Pull Knob to divert water to shower when showering.
Make sure the sprayer is clean of debris. IF YOU HAVE HARD WATER, soak in CLR overnight. If sprayer is clear then its the diverter which is more indepth thru the stem.
