Eurovox Security Code Error

When entering security code to my Eurovox overhead DVD/Screen combo unit by using the <> buttons to scroll up and down to select the number, ZERO is not an option (ie can only select 1 through 6 only). This is a problem as my security code contains a ZERO.

A Security Code Bug in some Kenwoods
There is a reported bug in the security code handling of some Kenwood stereos. In models with thie bug, the security code is stored incorrectly. The workaround is to enter the wrong security code.

In models with this bug, you have to decrement the third character of the security code by one. If your security code was 1111, you would enter your security code as 1101. If your security code was 9999, you would enter 9989.

Car radio pin code

Hi pat... bad news I'm afraid. You need to get the code from Eurovox. There is a way to change/defeat the code, but it involves having the thing apart on the bench and actually fitting a new memory chip to the radio that does not have a code. I used to do this if someone left a unit for repair and we were not left the code. I have cut and pasted the FAQ from Eurovox's site for you, Click the link to their code request form. There are also instructions on how to enter the code

And as always, the bastards charge for the info. Sorry I couldnt actually give you a code. I used to have charge $60 to recode a radio back in the day by rechipping it.

Why is my radio not working after the battery was disconnected/replaced?
The radio requires a security code to be entered. (also known as PIN number). A security code is either 4 or 6 numbers long for most of Eurovox Units.

How can I obtain my security code?
Download the Security Code Request form located in the Downloads section. Fill it out and send it in via fax or email with proof and payment. The serial number & model number of the piece of Eurovox equipment is essential. A new security code card will then be mailed to you and your details will be registered in our database.

Why does Eurovox charge for supplying a security code?
Security and administrative reasons. We enter your details in our database so if you lose it again you only have to identify yourself and give the serial number and we will give you the security code again, we also send you a new code card.

How do I enter my security code to my Eurovox radio/cassette/CD Unit?
Refer to the owner's manual of your equipment. Turn ignition key to 'Accessories' & a number '1' or code '1' or similar will appear. Press corresponding preset buttons as you read you security code. If you have a 6 digit security code, the display will count the preset buttons pressed. i.e. display will show '1' the '2' then '3' & so on up to '6' regardless of which number is pressed. If the security code is correct, the radio will turn on. If the security code is incorrect, the display will show '2' or 'code 2' or similar. After 3 incorrect attempts, the radio will go into 'lockout mode'.

Why has my radio got horizontal lines on the display & is not responding to any buttons?
The radio has had 3 incorrect security codes entered & is now in lockout mode. For recent model radio's leave 1 hour (some radio's require ignition key to be on accessories). For older model radio's, remove power to radio by either unplugging radio or disconnecting the negative lead on the battery for 1 hour.

My radio will not accept my security code?
(1) This radio may have been replaced and now requires a different security code
(2)The security code you have been supplied is wrong.
(3)This radio has an internal fault. To check if radio works there is a temporary test code '1111' or '111111' can be used for most of Eurovox Radio. This only lasts for approx 3 minutes.

How do I enter security code to my overhead DVD/Screen combo unit?
Using the <<or>> buttons on the overhead console, scroll up or down to select the first number. Once the correct number is shown, press the ENT button. Repeat this procedure to enter the 4 digit code. As each digit is entered, it will be shown on the display.

Why does "Code Input Error" appears on my overhead DVD/Screen Combo Unit?
If incorrect codes are entered for more than 3 times, your Eurovox overhead DVD/Screen unit will show "Code Input Error" on the display.
Leave car key in the car and turn it to Accessories for approximated 1 hour, the overhead DVD/Screen unit will reset itself and shows"Security Input 1***" on the display.

Good luck... a FixYa rating would be great for my attention to your problem. Cheers mate

regards
Graeme

Forgot my code.

How do I Reset a Kenwood Security Code? Kenwood car stereos are protected against theft by four digit security codes. If a thief steals a Kenwood car stereo, they will not be able to use the stereo until they enter the secret for digit security code. Unfortunately, many legitimate owners are also locked out of their Kenwood car stereos due to these security codes. This typically happens to people who buy used cars from people who forget to share the security code. However, it also happens to people who simply forget their security codes after several years. Common Kenwood Security Codes Many Kenwood radios are configured with the same security codes: KCAR - This seems to be a "backdoor" to some Kenwood models. 3051 - This is the security code which is printed in the manual of many Kenwood models. 1234 - This is a security code commonly chosen by Kenwood owners.
