Replacing ballast board

Hi! My VPL-CS4 powers on intermittently - every 2-3 weeks. In researching the solution I read your answer to the problem "LED won't come on and only faint hum is heard". How does one replace the ballast board? Got any suggestions?

No power on light

That's interesting.. After researching that model I can tell you that it has an intergrated internal power supply(transformer) which does contain a fuse. It is located where your power cord plugs into, inside the unit, start with that. Was it plugged into a surge protector? When you had the power failure the second time was there a fluctuation of power, ie your lights in your house flickering on or off or increasing, decreasing in brightness? This will help me determine if it's something else. Also be sure to check your power cord, look for any kinks, breaks, chips in insulation. Anyway Good Luck

It must be a problem with electric connection. you should check whether it is OK or not. If it is okay, read instruction manual.

Attend to the issues. Lamp cover may mean the cover is not fitted correctly or the switch is faulty like wise the fan issue may mean no rotation so it will not start.

JVC DLP MOD#HD55G466 what is the voltage from power supply to ballast and into the lamp.I have no voltage to the lamp could it be ballast?

Hi,
Ballast board gets voltage from power supply connector CN90BL and volts readings are as follows:
Pin-1 = 380V DC
Pin-2 = Ground
Pin-3 = 15V DC
and output of ballast board would be 12,000 volts AC that goes to lamp to generate spark in its electrodes to produce high bright light.

If you get volts on input of ballast board but still lamp does not fire up then ballast board is not working.
Ballast board part number is QAL0765-001 and available with tv-part.com for $125
Hope these info will help you.
Thanks.

The tv picture goes out

Sounds like the ballast has gone out. Samsung recommends replacing the smps board(power supply board) when you replace the ballast because it is the smps that takes out the ballast. replacing just the ballast ,machine may work ok for a short time but will destroy the new ballast fairly quickly.

It won't turn on. The TV has been intermitant for a about a week.

Hi.

Try first leaving the TV disconnected from power for several hours. Also test on a different main, eventually using an extension.
If the problems started intermittently last week, then there is probably a fault.

If there is no power at all it is a faulty power supply.
If the TV instead is in standby, then the set must be tested to find the fault.
Common faults may concern convergence, PSU, ballast board, control and signal I/O.

Here all parts for your set.
