Question about Samsung CLP-500 Laser Printer

Samsung CLP-500 stopped printing in color. It won't print with half full cartriges that were working fine before, and not even with newly refilled cartrigdes. A test page is black and white only

Printer worked fine for several years, then stopped printing color. cartriges are newly refurbished. Error message is" replace balck toner" but black toner is fine and prints ok.
printer set up preferences are still "color", etc.

  • keboard tric Jun 28, 2008

That does not work. Error signal is now "replace Black Toner" which I responded with by refilling the cartridge, replacing it and it still says to replace and the status is still listed as 0% full. The diagnostic demo sheet check still prints only in black and white - which strikes me strange as it insists that black is empty.

Try this one:

If the printer gives you an error message after you have installed the chip like “incorrect toner” or “invalid toner” or any other error message, then you need to SWITCH OFF the printer, wait a few seconds, then switch it back ON and hold down the MENU button while you are powering it back on.
If your printer will only allow you to print in black only mode, then go to your printer settings, click on PROPERTIES and then restore to printer defaults.

Hope that helps........

Sir,

The cartridge needs a chip, or to be remanufactured. Since it was "refilled", you can get it working again by putting a chip in it. Once the chip is replaced, that reading will go to 100%.

The toner on this machine has to have the chip/fuse replaced to reset the count.Ask your retailer about the chip.

Thanks
Good Luck

Seems to be an issue with the logic card, in that the info is not being sent/read by the colour mechanism (provided all printer settings are correct). If a hard reset as outlined by marked does not work, try a clean boot (with latest drivers from manufacturer's website) as outlined in my articles here:

For XP:

For Vista:

If all this fails, I would recommend you get in touch with with an authorized service center to get this issue sorted out...

If everything is ok with your cartridges then it might be settings problem.try uninstalling the printer software through add/remove in control panel and then remove drivers from device manager ,now restart your system and then install drivers and software for your printer again from the cd..

Color problems stem from your print cartridge or from your printer settings. Obviously, as a cartridge runs out of ink, colors will fade or disappear. Nozzles can also clog. Most printers include software utilities (including one for cleaning nozzles) that let you clean and align cartridges and print heads. You can usually access these utilities from an Advanced or manufacturer-specific tab in the printer’s Properties dialog box. Run both utilities several times if necessary.

If you’re sure the cartridge isn’t to blame, make sure you have updated drivers and the correct paper type for your job. Next, check the print quality and paper type settings in your printer Properties dialog box and in your application’s print settings. Printing Draft quality jobs can often result in strange color output. Your printer’s configuration utilities may also have color management controls. Find them either as part of your printer’s Properties dialog box (click the Color or Advanced tabs) or in a separate application installed as part of the printer setup process. Use these to adjust Tone, Brightness, Levels, and other settings.

Hi,

most likly hood is your exit sensor is faulty. The printer work in this way. if it does not print out all the document. it will print again. that is why you kept getting this same issue after a jam open and close door it will print again.

replace the exit sensor it will help.

Printer will not print

if you refiller the tone cartriges yourself or by someone else then mabye the chips need to be reset. An easier way is to tape over the three copper pins on the right side then turn the printer off and when turning on hold the menu key until it says uncheck consumables mode. Unfortunatly in this mode you will not know when you are out of toner until it doesn't print right but it can get you thru in a pinch.

Samsung clp-510n printer

1 Could be toner on the contacts (inside the printer) that mate with the contacts on the cartrdige.

2 Are you sure they are 510 toners and not 500 ones ?? 510 toners have a chip that identifies the cartridge (Colour, Capacity) and maintains a count of the pages printed.
500 toners have a reset fuse that resets the toner counter in the printer, and a resitor that identifies the capacity

3 Are they new cartridges, remanufactured, or 'home refiled'.
if either of the later two, were the chips replaced ? - if not the cartridge still thinks it has printed its full life of pages.
