If your on XP you can right click on the empty desktop and go to properties, Under the settings tab you will find options for screen resolutions. If your on Vista or 7 you right click on empty desktop space and go to screen resolution, There again you will easily find your settings for your screen resolution. Click apply and then click OK after that lay back and enjoy your screens clarity.

Cant shut computer off and have no moniter. the moniter is fine

I think what you are saying is that you lost the image on the screen, so that you can't navigate with the mouse to the normal shutdown procedure. In an emergency you can just pull the plug. There is some risk to the file structure, but most likely everything will be ok.
If the screen got scrambled or black because you set the resolution wrong, then you don't want to just plug it back in and reboot. As soon as the blue screen comes up, you want to hit the <F5> function key, in order to go into safe mode. This will prevent it from doing the final initializations, such as setting your last video resolution. And it will give you a chance to undo it.

My Acer P196hqv moniter is always offset by about 50mm when I start my computer, and I have to use the moniter controls to correct it. Very frustrating!

this is because the boot up screen and the welcome screen comprises of many differences they differ in resolution ,colour depth etc so if once the moniter is set for welcome screen it may be irregular for boot window

Image on monitor is stretched

if you have recently added the moniter to your pc then go to microsoft windows updates and run the custom updates and under hardware on the right there should be a download drive stating the name of your moniter and download it,,,unless you have not set the resolution in the control panel after pressing start and go to moniter display to adjust the slider to the right setting, good luck

Computer having touble booting up

Try going into safe mode (VGA mode) and see if this works. If you cannot go into safe mode you may have a problem with your video card. Also if you set your resolution too high for the monitor, you will get this problem. If you have another computer and remote desktop is enabled on your problem PC try to Remote Desktop in from the working comptuer and change the resolution settings to a lower setting on the problem computer.

Intstalled starlogic moniter to PC and got error message

Hi,
the "Out of Range" message usually appears when the video card is putting out a video resolution or frequency that the monitor isn't able to handle. You should reboot your computer and BEFORE the Windows screen shows up, press the F8 button once every half-second. THis will bring up the boot menu for Windows. Select "Enable VGA Mode" and press enter. THis will load Windows in VGA mode where the screen resolution will be 800x600 @ 60Hz. Any modern monitor is able to use this. Once you log into Windows with the basic video settings, you can go into the Display properties within Windows and bump up your resolution and frequency as needed.

Dear You need to adjust the computer resoultion to one of the following..

1088 x 612

1280 x 720

1360 x 768

you can increase it more; depends on your graphic card installed in system..

HOw to change the resoultion??

First right-click on the desktop and then left click on Properties from the menu that appears.

The display properties dialogue box will appear as shown in fig 1.1 below, click on the settings tab at the top right of the box.

8486020.gif

Screen Resolution
This slide bar is what you use to change the resolution, the options you have will depend on your graphics card and monitor.

Changing the Resolution
To change your resolution simply slide the bar along to the resolution of your choice and then click the Apply button.

After clicking Apply your screen will resize to the new resolution and you will be presented with a confirm dialogue box (see left), if you are happy with the way your screen looks then simply click Yes, if you would like to try a different resolution click No.

When you have finished simply close the Display properties box.

Let me know if it helps...
