By using a butter knife or something similar, put knife under one of the corners of the key to be removed, carefully pry up on the key, the key will "pop" up and away from the laptop. The key is held in place by 2 clips on the under side of it. When replacing with a new one, just take new key and push down until both clips engages on the edges of the new key.

Hi i need a ers button for my laptop where can i get one

I assume you are asking about the E, R, and S keys on your laptop keyboard. You will need to replace the keyboard, as the keys are specific to each keyboard design......Don't bother looking for replacement keys.....replace the keyboard.....and save the old one in case the same thing happens again....then you will be able to transplant keys from one to the other. Laptop keyboards can be purchased for around $20-$50.

Hope this helps!!

My toshiba laptop turns on but screen is blank

Hi,

1.Connect a external monitor
2.Press Fn Key and one of the key numbers(below the F1, F2... keys). One of them should have two small monitor on it or LCD/Screen
3.If you can see windows on the external monitor(EM) then you may need to replace your laptop's Screen or the LCD Inverter

Thanks

Need to re-attach a key that key has fallen off the keyboard

Keys on a keyboard cannot be replaced, especially on a laptop keyboard. You will need to contact the manufacturer of your computer to have them send you a new keyboard to connect to your laptop. They are fairly easy to replace.
Please rate,
Thanks

Toshiba Equium Laptop keyboard not operating correctly

There has been a lot of talk around this computer lately about the same problem you are having. It has something to do with the plug that plugs into the mother board it self.

I was cleaning my laptop keypad and one of the keys has come off....not sure how to put it back. Compaq Presario C700

Usually laptop keyboards are a unit by-itself meaning you may not be able to get individual key replacements if you were to request these directly from the manufacturer... I would probably be getting compaq on the phone to find out how much it costs to either have the they keyboard serviced (if possible) or the quoute on getting a replacement keyboard as even in the service manual for several laptops there's no specifics on how to remove keys from the keyboard but only how to deattach the whole unit for servicing porpuses.

Keyboard problems

Hi debodunmcg,

Either the laptop has built up dirt underneath the keyboard so the the keys do not contact the electronic parts or the keyboard needs replacing.

Laptop keyboard on lifebook c, replace or fix

It looks like you answered your own question - you really can't fix a laptop keyboard, but you can replace them. (or you can use an external keyboard)

Now is your problem:?
Letters qwert, asdfg, zxcvbn work OK but uiop displays as 456/ jkl displays as 123 and m displays as 0. Other keys also do not display correctly. Or holding the function key down at the same time as the problem keys ?

Then the solution is:
The problem was caused by accidentally pressing the num lock key. Once pressed, it remains locked even after a reboot. Pressing again returns the keyboard to normal.

The g and h keys came off my satellite A135 S7403 notebook. Can I find just relacement keys, or do I need to replace the entire keyboard. If I need to replace, is it something I can do myself? And if so,...

Sorry to say most laptop keyboards come complete. But Toshiba laptop keyboards are not that expensive. The labor is usually more. Some laptops keys can be reinstalled, there is a metal wire that is the piviot and the other part snap in place...Contact a independent service tech will be cheaper than Best buy, or Staples , etc...

Acer 3680-2682 laptop---key cover for #5 fell off--other than gluing-which I don't think will hold-do they sell just a key number to replace?

You would have to replace the whole keyboard as one piece, as they don't sell the keys separate.

Good Luck
