You need to synchronize the watch. You can find directions to do that online, but you will likely have to do this several times a year. There are so many functions that you will occasionally need to go to synchro mode to synch everything up. It freaked me out the first time I saw this too. : )

when a watch has analog hands and has digital portion, 9 times out of 10 it will have 2 batteries inside. A lithium battery and a normal battery. It is possible one died before the other. Usually the lithium (digital portion) lasts longer. Have the battery changed.
You have to calibrate the compass. 1. Press the upper right button (switching to compass mode) 2. Press and hold upper left button. The "CALL" will appear on the display. You are in compass calibrating mode. 3. Rotate the watch horizontally (around his vertical axis) slowly, so to be sure that he point the North at least 2 times. 4. Now press the upper left button again to input the declination (this is the angle between the magnetic and real pole). It is different for the area around the world, that you want to explore. 5. Switch between the positions of the cipher by pressing bottom left. 6. Change the cipher by pressing bottom right. 7. Switch between the active position by pressing bottom left. Now you have to enter East or West declination 8. If you are ready press the upper left. "END" of calibration will appear on the screen
Once you calibrate and set the declination you can use the the compass by pressing upper right button. As the compass is very sensitive It is good idea to calibrate it on a field, far away of metal objects and electromagnetic fields (cables, ect.). You need to calibrate the compass each time you want to use it by different surrounding.
Remember the compass function of your watch need much more energy than the watch itself. Don`t worry to change the battery when dead. The water resistance remains good even after. Very robust and accurate device. I hope that should help.
There are two batteries in the watch. One for the digital watch and the other for the analog watch. The battery for the analog side probably needs changing but when the back is opened, you might as well change both batteries.
If any battery operated watch starts losing time or displaying the incorrect time, this is usually indicative of a battery going bad and needing replacement. My Luminox 3100 started lagging in time and I noticed that the second hand would intermittently stop. I also have a Suunto Vector (Digital) wrist-top computer and the times along with the compass, altimeter, light and alarms all started to act crazy and all it happened to be was the battery being run down. Coincidentally the Suunto has a battery gage that only appears and flashes during low battery charge.
BL: Try the simplest thing first, change your battery. Please be very careful not to break the O-ring on any watch that's waterproof/resistant as this will render the protection useless. Also if your watch is still under a manufacturer or vendor's additional warranty, get them to change it as not to void your warranty. 'Hope this helps!
i followed the instructions on the Citizen website for a system reset and it worked. Unfortunately, the regular way of setting the digital hour does not. Maybe a technical problem? The movement number for the Aqualand duplex is C506.
1. unscrew the analog adjustment crown and pull one click
2. press and hold the other 3 buttons for 3 seconds and release.
3. push the analog crown back and adjust the digital time.
this is a system reset so you will have to set the date. You will lose your settings and your dives. good luck.
