I have a Daenyx 40"

Not familiar with the

Daenyx

brand, but the symptom you describe sound like a faulty capacitor in the power supply. Capacitors act like batteries. They store power and give a good solid source of power. When they go bad they will short out to ground. Unplugging the set will temporarily refresh a bad cap a couple times. Normally if you look at the round can looking parts on the power supply the bad one or ones will be bulged on the tops and or leaky. Hope this helps. :)

Sony Trinitron TV takes multiple manual clicks to turn on.

If you mean the actual mains switch needs multiple cycles, it could be faulty.. does anything, say a power indicator, come on when the TV doesn't?
If the actual switch is OK, then you probably have a fault in the power supply section... often faulty electrolytic capacitors. U need service.
