I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure.

The Bissell is not designed to be like a vacuum – it is designed to clean on the pull back, you dispense the Bissell cleaning fluid, the brushes scrub the carpet and the suction will vacuum up the excess water, the push forward will do the reverse action. You may want to refer to your owner’s manual and check out the trouble shooting guide for no water coming out. You may want to contact the factory or manufacturer to see if they have service tech support or to send out a new owner’s manual for your current model #. My Bissell ProHeat 2x and it's not spraying any water out.
