my jcd 2389g have water on the floor for awhile now the freezer wooking but the refrigerate does not cold

  • Anonymous Aug 08, 2008

I have the same problem. When I open the freezer door and look at the vent thing on the bottom back water pours streams out. Sometimes it's alot and once it collects it spills out onto the floor. Often it freezes around the rack and then I crack out the ice with the rack- areal pain nit to mention it's killing my floors!!!

I've had the repair man out for other weird things like not freezing stuff they fixed that or so it seemed. Sometime it get really loud or silent and I wonder if it's working. Sometime it's tooo cold sometimes not cold. I think my warranty is out now. :( Paid good money for this one but I think it's on it's last limb!

The unit is on a hardwood floor and there is water damage to the floor. The unit appears to be dry now. Could it have a leak that can't be seen?

The potential for water leaking to the floor is probably still there. Open the door of the unit, look in the back and you will see a white plate; that is the evaporator. When the unit is running, there is a light frost that forms on the front and back surface of the evaporator; sometimes the frost can get a bit thick because of air laden moisture infiltration or the frequency of door opening. That frost eventually will melt and drain from a drain hole right underneath the evaporator. If that drain hole is plugged up, water will eventually leak out from under the door. Keep that hole clean and patent and also check the state of the water collecting pan underneath the the unit. That might solve your water problem.

Leaking water periodically under the refrigiater

When a refrigerator leaks water like yours, it is common for the problem to be nothing more than a clogged defrost drain. When the unit defrosts itself, the frost melt water drips into a pan underneath the evaporator in the freezer, and goes through a tube from there to the bottom outside of the unit. Since the water cant go down this drain, it backs up on the freezer floor, then eventually the kitchen floor.

I have an Amana BRD18V1 or V2, bottom freezer. About every two weeks it leaks water on the floor on the right hand side and i have to defrost the bottom part to get about an inch of ice out. I trust...

I assume you mean water leaking on floor of bottom freezer? There should be a small hole in floor in back to drain defrosted water down to pan under unit. This line might be clogged with food or frozen water. Carefully pour some hot/boiling water down tube to clear. You should see it empty into pan under unit where fan evaporates it.

Water on the floor under the freezer side of unit

It happens to all those old refrigerators. There is a shield separating the drip container and freezer through a small hole. Check if it is blocked. This won't do much of the work and may not be stopped even if you do something. If you can, have a new refrigerator.

Water on floor under unit & ice bottom of freezer

By going online, saw several posts re this problem. In short, the water drain was clogged and there was also a problem with the defrost timer. Service man blew out the drain line with compressed air and installed a new timer. Voila! Problem fixed. Interestingly, the serviceman found a wad of what looked like putty, but was sticky like gum in the drain area. He said he had never encountered anything similar.

Occasional small puddle of water on floor in front of unit on door handle side. it is a 25 yr. old Amana no ice maker or water dispenser in door

there is a drain pan for condensation under the fridge. over this many years the is dust and lint that will fill the pan and displace the water on your floor. while your under there clean the coils. this will help get every year possible from your fridge
