I have an hd vizio television. Just over a year it does not have any hd channels. I already talked tech support. They are clueless. Everything is plugged the way it always was. I rechecked all connections. The screen is green. I have an antenna on my roof and could get many channels in hd. What is the problem?

Re: hd receiver does not work now
The tuner could be the problem. If the set is plasma or LCD will determine what may be the problem. they work in very different ways. make sure that the setup is set for 16.9 then do and auto program. Don't know that this is your problem not a lot of info on the model so at best this is a guess.

Jul 21, 2013 - Ive had this tv for almost a year and the screen has never given me problems, but just recently all the HD channels are stretched. ... If your Vizio is like my 47" it has 4 Picture Modes - Wide, Normal, Zoom and Panoramic. ... Why isnt my viziotv able to play full screen hd channels?
I don't believe that it is cost effective. BUT, if you have Comcast, you will now need a cable box to watch most channels now. I believe they stop at about channel 12 without the box. It's their way to stop cable thieves, but it's an inconvenience for the rest of us.
If this isn't the case, you might want to try to contact Vizio tech support www.vizio.com. or try to reset the TV - unplug the TV, press and hold the power button for 30 seconds, repeat. Plug it back in and see if it helped.
If the picture size isn't changing with the television's picture size adjustment setting there could be a few things going on. Check to see that you're in the right input on the television i.e. if you are connected to a high definition receiver make sure you are not in the tv/tuner input (tv display would say analog channel 3 or 4). Make sure your tv is switched to the high definition input i.e. component 1 hdmi 1 and etc. If you are in the high definition input already check and see that your cable box or satellite tv receiver is set to the proper resolution. For example if you have a 720p television make sure the cable box is set to 720p not 1080i. Last but not least look for the hd zoom # button on the cable remote. The button may also say format or aspect.
I have the same set, same problem with one of my MOTOROLA boxes, but not with another. I have a SONY TV that works fine with this new MOTO box, but the new VIZIO does not. The audio is coming through the HDMI cable just fine, and the fact that it works when you cycle power on your TV means it's the SYNC between the TV and the BOX. I have the identical problem and am taking back the MOTO box for another one. I spoke to VIZIO for about 45 minutes trying different things. They think it's the MOTOROLA box, COX (my cable company) thinks it's this particular box, who knows.
You can program most satelite remotes to work on any device. Most are universal. If not, I suggest purchasing a universal remote. You can view remote codes online to program your device to your remote. New ones come with instrucions and codes. Let me know how I can further assist you if necessary
I also had this channel 5-1 freezing problem and spoke with Vizio support a few times. They thought the problem was the SSID code from the local CBS station and said they would try talking with them. I am not certain if they did this or not, but, as of mid December, my Vizio no longer has this problem.
