SETTING UP A NEW HARD DRIVE

IF YOU BUY A LARGE ENOUGH HARD DRIVE (160GB OR BIGGER) ITS A GOOD IDEA TO PARTITION IT INTO AT LEAST TWO DRIVES. (50GB FOR WINDOWS AND WHATS LEFT FOR BACKUP)
IN DOING THIS YOU INSTALL WINDOWS ON THE PRIMARY PARTITION AND THE SECOND PARTITION WOULD BE USED TO BACK UP YOUR FILES AND APPLICATIONS LIKE PICTURES, MUSIC AND SO ON. THIS WAY IF SOMETHING HAPPENS TO YOUR WINDOWS INSTALL YOUR PICTURES AND MUSIC WOULD STILL BE SAFE ON THE BACK UP PARTITION. AS LONG AS THE HARD DRIVE IT SELF DOES NOT FAIL (HARDWARE FAILURE) YOUR FILES SHOULD REMAIN UNTOUCHED AND SAFE.
THIS WILL WORK ON BOTH DESKTOPS AND LAPTOPS.

Backup the configuration of fortigate

Administrators can back up the FortiGate unit's configuration file from the System Information widget. Select Backup in the System Configuration row, to back up the firmware configuration file to a local computer, USB disk or to a FortiManager unit.
You should always back up your configuration whenever you make any modifications to the device configuration or performing any firmware updates or changes.
Local PC Select to back up the configuration file to a local management computer. FortiManager Select to back up the configuration file to a FortiManager unit. The Central Management settings must be enabled and a FortiManager unit connected with the FortiGate unit so that the FortiGate unit can send the configuration file to the FortiManager unit.
To enable central management, go to System > Admin > Settings. USB Disk Select to back up the configuration file to a USB key that is connected to the FortiGate unit. Full Config Select to backup the full VDOM configuration. This appears only when the FortiGate unit has VDOM configuration enabled. VDOM Config Select to backup the only the VDOM configuration file. This option backs up only the configuration file within that VDOM. Select the VDOM from the drop-down list, and select Backup. Encrypt configuration file Select to enable a password to the configuration file for added security. Password Enter the password that will be used to restore the configuration file. Confirm Re-enter the password.

It sounds like you need a bigger hard drive, try remove other program that you can install back in again, backup the computer install a bigger hard drive and restore the backup file. I recommend using Acrois software for the backup. You can also download from Cnet a free verison on mini partition to resized the drive once you restore the backup.

The Windows Backup and Restore feature allows you to save files and system images to external backup devices such as hard drives and flash drives. However, backing up files become problematic if the directory your backing up files from isn't configured properly, or if you're having issues with the devices you're backing files to. There are ways to solve or work around backup problems quickly and safely.

Hard Drive b> A backup will not complete if the files you're backing up exceed the amount of space left on the external hard drive. If you're backing up large system files, Microsoft recommends saving the backup to an external hard drive that can hold at least 200 GB. If you're running out of space, you must delete content to create space for others or use another hard drive. Error Codes In some cases, Windows displays the following error codes when it's unable to complete a backup: "0x80070001 (Invalid Function)" or "0x81000037: Windows Backup failed while trying to read from the shadow copy on one of the volumes being backed up." These error messages usually appear if Windows is unable to backup a specific library or if you opt out of adjusting your backup settings and settle for the default settings in the Windows Backup and Restore Feature. Reparse Point b> If you're unable to backup a specific library and run into error code messages, removing the reparse point allows you to complete the backup. A reparse point is a file that contains information about the user on a computer. If it doesn't point to a location that contains some of the data you want to backup, error messages appear when you try to back up your files. Type "CMD" in the Start Search box to open the Command Prompt. In the Command Prompt, typing "DIR /AL /S" and pressing Enter lists the reparse points. Each entry says "JUNCTION," which also means reparse point. The entries also tell you the location of the reparse points in Windows Explorer. If you locate a specific reparse point in Windows Explorer, delete its mounted volume from the device's Properties. Once deleted, you should be able to back up your files. Discs b> If you're backing up files to a disc, you'll run into problems if the discs are non-rewritable and already contain data, or if they are severely scratched or damaged. Non-rewritable discs can only be used once, while rewritable discs can be used to read and write data several times. If the CD or DVD you're using is severely scratched, the optical disc drive spins harder than usual in an attempt to read it. If it's incapable of reading the disc, the backup feature may freeze or display an error.
Windows backup or restore errors 0x80070001, 0x81000037, or 0x80070003

I can't backup files, because it says I have no more room. How can I fix this?

Delete some files or backups. If your backups are appending or creating a new file every time without replacing the old ones, it will eventually fill up.

If the drive is not full, it may be your file system. If the partition is formatted FAT32, you have a maximum file size of 4 GB. The backup will proceed until the file size reaches 4 GB, then it will close out and the rest of the files will not be backed up.

Using Disk Management, you can create a new partition, this tiime NTFS. Unfortunately, you'll lose all files on the drive when you partition so you'll need a place to move the files to temporarily.

Keyboard command not working

The file that contains your keyboard short-cuts is acad.PGP. Find our where this file isand then use the OPTIONS command to make sure your PGP file location is listed correctly.

Tip: you can open this file with notepad. You will see how it is organized and following the same pattern you can add your own short-cuts and/or change the ones you already have.
