Hi my spanish friend recently purchased a new hp dv 6000 series lap top computer. we've tried everything we know how to do, been in the bios, and in the control panel, but we're only having a little success. Some of it is in spanish now but the majority is still in English. Oh it's running Vista.
can you tell me what we're doing wrong, please?
I so appreciate any help-

Tip: The max point reward for answering a question is 15.
This question is a bit broad, if you are looking to change the language that the keyboard types in you would go to "start" > "Control Panel" > (From this point the option itself may vary in exact name depending on your operating system) "Change Keyboard / Region Settings"
If you go under region / language you should be able to set everything to english. If however you purchased the computer in a spanish region and spanish is the primary language on the computer, you may have to upgrade your operating system to the "Ultimate" version of whatever windows you may have. From there you can install the language pack that will reset the computer to english.

the whole system language you should install newer service pack with different
language. If you
have XP SP2 in Spanish and want to have it in Eng, you will have to download
SP3 in Eng, change someregistry keys (go
to KEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Control\Nls\Language registry key,
and then change the value date for “Default” and “InstallLanguage” registry
value from 0409 to 0410) and you'll be able to install it in Eng. Resume:
1.Go to start
2. Press run
3. Type Regedit
4. Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\ go to "SYSTEM" \ go to
"ControlSet001" \ go to "Control"\ go to "Nls" go
to " languages"
5. Change the Default” and “InstallLanguage” (first and last in the list) to
0409 [for you.S english, for other codes look down in the thread],
6. Download and install Sp3 for xp in English
7. Restart computer.
8. Be happy for it works.
Thanks for using fixya…good luck and don’t forget to rate
Hey you can change the language settings to English from Japanese. Go to control panel and select the option regional and language settings and change it to English. And if it doesnt work u need to re-format the whole operating system and at the start up u need to select the language as English. Hope this will work
Thanks and Regards Honey
If you want to change Operating System from one language to another one, there is only one way. You need install English version of the Operating System. You can change some regional settings (time, writing languague to make programs recognise it), but nothing you can do about whole system. Please obtain an English version of Windows (or Linux if this is your operating system) and make a new installation on your computer. Of course back up all you datas before doing so
