There are two ways to install a driver. First, you can install the driver yourself using a CD, floppy diskette, or downloadable installer, which contains the driver.

Second, you can let Windows do it for you.

Disk boot failure. black screen. and hard drive makes a clicking sound.

99% sure that clicking sound, combined with the boot disk failure message, means your hard drive is dead. You can replace the drive with a new one, and reinstall windows, etc. but more than likely the data will be lost unless you use a data recovery service. Feel free to contact me or put another request in if you want specific info on reinstalling windows.
Sorry for the bad luck.

Why does my computer sound not work

either the soundcard does not work or the drivers need reinstalling because they have become corrupt

1) firstly to save some money, locate the make and model of pc, go to manucturer website (ie dell acer etc etc) then download the correct soundcard drivers (Audio), install and restart couple of times

2) if all fails u could install a new sound card if the existing is built on to the motherboard.

I have no audio and it wont install.

One of the reason of this is your sound card isn't properly installed. check it up and fix it by reinstalling the soundcard hardware.

Sound not work after reinstalling windows xp

Have you installed the driver for the soundcard already? If not, please make sure to download it first from this link:

Also, you would want to also download a copy of all the drivers listed on that page. In case there is a need for you to reinstall again, just insert the thumb drive or the CD where you have stored the files, and voila, you have quick access to the drivers.

I have a dell dimension 8250. I lost my sound, but

Either your soundcard driver has gotten corrupted or your soundcard has died. You can find both the driver & info on what card you have at Click on the support link and you can either input your Dell Service Tag & get exact system info, or you can look it up using the system model #. The driver will be available for download. Try reinstalling an updated driver first. If that still doesn't work check your device manager to see if a soundcard is listed. If it is not then more than likely your card has died and will need to be replaced. Hope this helps.

Information and help

It sounds like you have just recently installed a fresh copy of windows, I would suggest reinstalling again. If not, you can try re-downloading your driver from another location. (My link)

This is a software error message that can be interpreted as such or it can show potential hardware problems. Were you getting a lot of strange errors prior to reinstalling windows? It could be a problem with your math co-processor, memory, hard drive or even low voltages on your power supply. This one may take a bit of work. Good luck
