Different watches have different methods, go to a web site manufacturer and look up your model and look for the instructions. For example look at:

My watch not working how to setup

  1. Check the battery: Before attempting to set up your watch, make sure that the battery has not run down. If the battery is dead, you will need to have it replaced by a professional watchmaker or authorized Breitling service center.
  2. Wind the watch: If the battery is not dead, you may need to wind the watch to get it started. Most Breitling watches have a self-winding mechanism, but if it has not been worn for a long time, it may need to be manually wound.
  3. Set the time: Once the watch is running, you can set the time by pulling out the crown (the knob on the side of the watch) and turning it until the hands are set to the correct time. Push the crown back in when the time is set.
  4. Set the date: If your watch has a date function, you can set the date by pulling the crown out to the second position and turning it until the date changes. Push the crown back in when the date is set.
  5. Synchronize the time: If your watch has a chronograph function (stopwatch), you may need to synchronize the time to ensure that it is accurate. You can do this by starting the chronograph and waiting for it to complete a full revolution.

The calendar skipped ahead a day and I can't get it back to where it reads the correct date. Can you help?

Pull the stem out to the time set level. Turn the hand around until the date change. Now push the stem back in, pull to date set level and change to current date. Now the watch is at midnight for that current date. Note you can set to current time of day. The Watch will automatically change to correct date for next day at midnight as it should.

How to set day/date on an 1968 DX automatic Seiko watch

Seiko watches from this period should have a setting stem that pull out half-way and fully. Pulling the stem out fully permits you to set the time. Pulling the stem out half-way should let you set the date by moving the crown forward/clockwise and set the day of the week by moving the crown backward/counterclockwise.

However, for this to work correctly, the watch must have the correct set stem. I have worked with a number of watches, including Seikos, where a generic stem was substituted after someone accidentally pulled out the crown and stem (Seiko replacement parts can be tough to find in the U.S., especially for discontinued models). If an incorrect stem has been installed, the day/date setting procedure I've just described may no longer work correctly. At that point, setting the date involves advancing the hands to get to the right date; day of the week may not be able to be set at all.

Good luck!

I have an eco drive and recently in trying to set the clock back to regular time, I must have done something wrong. The time is correct but the date, and day are one day forward. How do I correct this?

the crown of the watch has two clicks, pull it gently once and you can set the date and day, pull it gently again a second time and you can set the time. The proper way to set the time and date is to set first the day, date late at the actual date, then move the hands around the clock until the date change at 12 oclock this is evening, then moving the hands around until you reach the actual time. By doing so you will set the day, date and time in syn to 24 hrs change.

example: you want to change it to sat 12th 11am
set the day and date to fri 11th
then move the hands around clockwise until the day and date change at 12 oclock continue moving the hands until you reach 11am

Citizen Skyhawk SMT date?

You've gotta go to the set setting, one click out on the knob and cycle through all the timezones using the B button (the lower one) to change all the settings to OF (for winter) or ON (for summer time). According to their website FAQ, they can't determine when daylight savings time goes into effect for all the different time zones so there is no automatic changeover from SMT to normal and back again. Disappointing, I know. I just spent half an hour going through their website looking for some master switchover as well.
