Constant beeps

this laptop can take 4G ram http://www.crucial.com/upgrade/Gateway-memory/M-1000+Series/M-1625-upgrades.html

if the memory modules are not from the same brand range, this can often be the issue.

it SHOULD be able to run with just 1 2G module but will run better with 2 1G rather than the single, assuming it's the right type for the machine.

If I'm upgrading pc memory, I remove the old and replace with Crucial or Kingston kits so as not to mix brands and ranges.

Three sets of beeps, or three individual beeps? Does it repeat? If so, then check this for the code you are hearing:
http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/pe600sc/en/it/1r237c20.htm#1046231

If it is a steady once-per-second beep - or a constant screech - and it is able to boot to the OS (or even most the way), then it is probably your RAID controller. Boot to CTRL-A or CTRL-M to check the status of your array.

Same problem, extremely annoying

Hi,
Go to Speakers properties > levels > mute pc beep.

That should stop the annoying power beep but not the startup jungle.
