Just inherited a very old tunturi family exercise bike, and it is VERY old but works a treat! Trouble is I have no idea what format the speedometer is in!! Anyone got any ideas? I was told it's miles but I'm not convinced at all an planning on using for training so would be helpful if I knew what units I was measuring in! Thanks

Generally the Speedometer is in miles per hour, that is the standard. If you, when looking at the dial gauge, see the numbers go above 50 then it's in kilometers.

Exercise bicycles will give you a pretty accurate account of Speed and this in turn gives you an accurate account of distance. But this is the distance that wheel traveled, not the equivelant that you would be able to do on the road on an actual bike. Yoiu do not have factors like wind resistance, rolling resistance, and terrain to deal with. You will go further on the stationary bike then on the road if you are judging by distance, as you will be pedaling at a higher speed.

congrats on the inheritance.

How to remove crank on tunturi exercise bike.

The bolt at the crank arm needs to first be loosened using an adjustable wrench in order to remove the crank on a Tunturi exercise bike. Pull the crank arm away from the bike after the bolt has been released. If this doesn't work and you hear a clicking noise, it may be necessary to either tighten the crank arm further or service the crank bearings. It is preferable to take the bike to a bike shop in this situation so that it may be serviced.

Have you a speed sensor for Tunturi T40

We don't have anything. We are FIXYA dot com, we are not Tunturi. Parts seem to be no existent for this make and model. I remember I had Puch Tunturi exercise bikes at a newly opened sports centre in Dunstable, England in 1975!

Tunturi exercise bike stuck in high gear

Detach power cable. Remove the side panels to reveal the wheel drive's left side. Here you will see some electronic circuit - the gear engine. A small fuse (glass thing with metal in both ends) is most likely blown. Buy a new 350mA fuse at an electronics store - and your gear will be working again.

Have need parts to a tunturi ergometer / exercise bike

It looks like the only cable FitnessRepairParts has for Tunturi Ergometers is a speedometer cable for serial numbers greater than 474100.

Where can I get a speedo cable for a Tunturi

If it is just the inner cable and you don't need the housing then Napa Auto parts and others sell a universal cable kit that you can cut to fit and comes with a crimp tool for installing the square end on it.
