You have to down load new software from Creative in order for the Zen to work in W7 as most of the existing software on CDs only work with WXP. Unless you bought your Zen in the last year, the software needs updating to play on W7. You need to get a better description of your Zen and search the following site. http://support.creative.com/Products/product_list.aspx?catID=948&CatName=Entertainment+Devices+%2f+MP3+Players#
You have to have updated software on your computer to download the music. You must have received a CD containing all the requirements for Zen MP3 player.
OR
go to creative Zen site and load the necessary updated software which include the drives too
Yes, but you also need to load the ZEN software onto her computer so that you can add music to the player. You can load the playlist several ways, using Yahoo music, Windows Media Player, or using the Zen Media Explorer.
If it won't exit recovery mode and you know the hard drive is good, then you've got to reload the firmware. Do you know the hard drive is okay?
Be careful, though -- you can NOT reload the firmware on an XP machine that has WMP11 installed. It HAS to be WMP10. If you search on Zen firmware, you'll find dozens of articles on the subject.
Go here:
Creative.com

-->Select appropriate information
-->All
Under the Drivers section, download 2.01.00
Under the applications section, download
9. Creative MediaSource Player/Organizer 3.30.21
Or I could just email you the drivers. I have a Zen Micro myself and have the CD also.
Or, you can just bypass the need for software if you are willing to use Windows Media Player 10 or 11 to transfer songs to your Zen. You can do this by upgrading the firmware to version 2.21.02. Same location as I mentioned above.
