Hello, I got err 201 and a red light. The camera seems locked up. I remember reading about a sequence of buttons to hold down when I turned the camera on to reset it. Do you know this sequence or another fix?

Re: HP Photo Smart 315 Digital camera err 201
Hey rcheeseman, According to the manufacturer if you are getting an error message you need to reset the camera. This should be done by removing the batteries and then reinserting them, and I would leave them removed for a minute or two before reinserting them. If this doesn't work I would have the camera looked at by an authorized service technician. I have included a link to a PDF download of your camera manual in case you need it. I hope this helps! http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/bpy60034.pdf Sincerely, Allan Go Ahead. Use Us.
a 6ya Expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

Hello. Turn the camera on, go into the menu and find reset. Reset it. This will take you back to factory settings. If this does not solve your problem send it to Nikon for a repair as opening it up voids the warranty. Joe
Hey TandN, I am not familiar with this error code for this camera, but for other HP camera models this error code would mean you have an imaging task error which means you either have a corrupted file on your memory card or your memory card needs to be formatted. I would try formatting the camera first, but remember this does delete any images on the card so upload any you can to your computer first. If this doesn't work I would try resetting the camera back to the factory settings by removing the batteries (with the ac adapter not attached to the camera) for at least two minutes, and then reinsert them. After resetting the camera you will need to reset the cameras' date and time. I hope this helps! Sincerely, Allan Go Ahead. Use Us.
Oh yer, you are correct. They are in alphabetical order too. Still does not mean that I to have anything to do with them. I have all catogories selected for access to chat as I can still talk someone through an owners manual... thats about the depth of camera fault finding required to capably conduct a chat session. I dont propose to fix cameras. HOWEVER, I used to fix camcorders as a sony service agent for 14 years. But digital still cameras... I have already told you.
Pull back on the solicitation there mate... I dont want to visit your site. nor contact you outside of FixYa. If you have anything to say, then please do so in the lounge... and I will try to be more polite in future.
The "ERR" error message is a sequence failure and most common problems are shutter, aperture control or sequence motor drive system. When the problem repeats frequently, it will increase until total camera failure. Cameras in need of epairs should be sent to a Nikon Authorized Service Center like Southern Photo in Miami. Lots of repair information on all types of cameras can be found at http://blog.sp-ts.com so check it out for more repair information.
