Question about Flat Panel Televisions

2 Answers

I have to unplug the TV occasionally to get the picture to come on at start up.

Bought in March of 2007. Just in the last week I have had to unplug the unit to get the set to show a picture. The green light comes on, but no picture unless I unplug the unit (reset it). This has happened 2 or 3 times, typically in the morning. The unit is connected via HDMA which runs from the HD DirecTv box into the Pioneer receiver and then out to the set. I have tried switching the set over to TV or even turning the volume up or down to see if it is a satelitte/hdmi input issue only, but no picture can be seen at all until I reset the unit by unplugging it. Should I be worried that a part is on its way out or is this just some sort of lock up issue caused by my routing through the receiver?

Thanks,

MIke

The image for both of my HDMI inputs have gone out. I purchased my TV almost 2 years ago. Unplugging the TV doesn't seem to work. I assume it's not under warranty, so trying to figure out my options.

I have same problem on Sharp Aquos LCD.  I unplug/turn off circuit and then turn back on and it works.  Otherwise no picture, just a light and light goes off.

1. the motherboard might be bad and you will need to replace it. 2. or The power supply is bad
Chances are if its making clicks the power supply is bad and you will need to replace it. Which makes sense because constantly powering the tv on and off will damage the power supply or possibly short out your motherboard. These things usually cost about 200 bucks to fix at a local tv repair store.

32 '' Vizio Won't Turn On

Hello, This is an indication that the powersupply board or one of its associated circuits is malfunctioning. Most of the time this is due to a bad capacitor. As you noticed this TV creates a lot of heat, this heat often along with constant use overstresses the capacitors and causes them to dry out and the explode. I believe that if you took a look at your powersupply board you will find that a few of the capacitors are bloated. Replace these and then check to make sure that the voltage levels are correct. I hope this helps, Thank you, Shuttle83 http://www.electron-age-technologies-llc.com

Viewsonic LCD TV - Picture/Sound goes out after 1st power up

Hi visceran,
I am happy to help, unfortunatly your main/input board is malfunctioning, it is a problem with the processor. I had a 32' Viewsonic on my bench last week with the same symptoms.
If the tv is new you should contact Customer Service asap, also check on the return policy of the store you bought it from. Many times it is alot easier to return to the merchant than to ship to repair facility.
Let me know how it goes and if you need further assistance.
