Question about Kenwood Car Audio Receivers
I have a Kenwood Radio/Cassette Reciever in my 1998 26' 8" Sea Ray Sundancer Boat. The model is KRC-430, Ser. #10106035. It is the kind you can remove by pulling it out by the handle. The problem I am having is that you can barely hear radio sound coming out of any of its speakers even with the volume turned all the way up. The sound is very clear but very faint. I checked all of the speaker connections and they seem fine but was unable to check the antenna connection because I can't see where the antenna is. Every once in a while the radio will work just fine but then it goes back to what I described previously. Also, when its not working, the cassette player doesn't work either. Can you tell me what the problem is and how it can be fixed. Thank you.
Since this problem goes away sometimes, you problably have some broken solder connections in the radio. If you are very good with a solder iron this can be fixed without much problem. If not, you need to take it in to a repair shop.
There really isn't anything else that can be done. The antenna connection will not cause this problem, so you don't need to worry about that.
I hope this helps you decide how you want to handle the problem, if so a good rating would be appreciated.
Let me know if I can be any more help. I have been repairing car and home audio for over 17 years and have figured out a few things in that time.
