If you hear sound but no video chances are the screen is indeed the issue now here is what you can do.
- Check for a replacement screen and put it in yourself.
- Take the unit to a factory authorized repair center.
- if there are A/V outputs you can hook up a external screen (most models have this)
The screen is bad because of the following issues:
The
back light witch is the white background you see is firing (not a
back light issue)
There is a bar running across the screen meaning the LCD is damaged or defective.
Now in rare cases you can go in and check and see if the Ribbon cable is dislodged from the
main board, do not shoot the messenger but it happens. Other then that I feel you need a new lcd screen for this unit based on what you told me.

i kinda have the same problem, my av unit will memorise the position of the screen and what source it was playing from when last used but wont remember any of the audio settings so i find myself having to set it all up everytime i turn it on. can anybody help?
