Welcome to Fixya. I would like to know what is the error message when you try to access the internet? What is the Operating system of the computer? Have you tried using a different browser? Please provide the information needed to be able to fix the issue.
To answer this question, I would need to know if you can connect at all with the computers. IF it can be assumed that you are able to connect but get booted after a short time then there are a couple of things to check. One is to make sure that the netbooks are not the problem...too many wireless devices on one router is a possibility but with the Dl-524 it shouldn't be a problem. They are set up to support several connections at once. However, if you find your other wireless devices working better without the netbooks, I would contact your wireless provider as bandwidth can sometimes be a problem. You may also want to reset your router (unplug it for about 5 seconds then plug it back in). Your provider will be able to tell if any other devices are trying to connect to the network (besides your home). (In other words they can see what devices are trying to connect) Ask them about changing the channel as well. This worked for me, but again this is only IF they are able to connect at all. IF they don't connect at all, let me know and I will post back.
When you connect the MAC to the router with the CAT 5 cable it works , that means the wired connection of the router is working but the wireless is not working. You will need to check the wireless settings of the router. Is there any computer connected to the router with the cable ? If not then you will need to connect the computer to the router and open the set up page of the router.
To secure the wireless network , you will need to access the router set up. Do you have any computer connected to the router with the ethernet cable. If you do not have the computer connected to the router, then connect one computer to the router. Do not try this on the wireless computer. Click Here for step by step solution
I would try using the hex value generated from your password by your WEP enabled router instead of the password itself. Windows has always been a little funny with WEP and I've always had better luck using the hex value my router generates.
