First: is your cd drive an actual DVD drive? and which media player are you using? you may need the "codecs" installed for playing dvds. if you download the Divx Player, this may fix your problem.

mcdevito75 here, It may be the sound track on the DVD itself, try another DVD and see how the sound is. If the sound is OK without any DVD being played you simply have to adjust the sound while playing DVD"s either at the speakers or with the volume control on your key board.
make sure you got the right drivers for your unit... specially if your using operating systems that exactly supports that drivers you 've loaded with...
