I NEED TO RESET WINDOWS 7 HOME PREMIUM 64 BIT for HP NOTEBOOK G60-530US, PLEASE HELP ME!!!
HP provides a recovery partition on the HDD included with the PC when shipped. If this is missing or damaged, you can sometimes "roll back" the HDD using included software - information on how to use this is found in the notebook's documentation.
If you lack the documentation or the software, support for this situation can be found on the HP Support forums.
HP does not provide recovery media with their notebooks or desktops at this time and have not beginning in 2008. You may order it from them at the outrageous price of $30.00 or more.
If your COA is still visible on the bottom of the notebook, you may be able to use Genuine Windows Media for that version of the Windows 7 OS and use the included key to restore. This may or may not properly activate however, and differs from model to model.
HP does reserve the customer the right to send the notebook in for service during the warranty period and also reserves the customer the right to arrange shipping to their repair facility or walk-in service from a local HP Authorized Repair facility. They will provide the shipping materials to you at no cost, but shipping to them is your responsibility. This generally costs between $10 and $20 from various shipping companies such as USPS, UPS, or FedEx.
Repair Facilities near you can be found on the HP Customer Care support site. If you speak to HP via the phone or live chat and are in warranty, be firm and assert your rights under warranty for repair, regardless of the representative's suggestion to purchase recovery media. This is not your only option, and do not be convinced as such if they are reluctant to offer you Depot repairs. See your warranty information packet included with the notebook or posted on their support site for further information.
If you need assistance in determining the warranty status, their website offers this feature also and it's quite easy to find using any popular search engine of visiting HP.com directly.
