Question about Xerox Phaser 8500/DN Printer

Xerox 8500 not printing

Hi, I have a Xerox Phaser 8500. For last 5-6 months it was making wierd sounds while printing but still it was printing fine. Now suddenly it has stopped printing. I logged it off, hooked it off the power but nothing works.. When I turn the power on, red light flickers for some time and then turns to constant green and when I shoot a printout order, the light turns to red. In my computer, there's no indication of printing failure.

Any help to sort this out will be greatly appreciated.

It sounds like you need to check your addressing. Sounds to me like your IP address reset back to default.
You need to go into the network settings and check your IP address and make sure it is set to manual and not auto.
I believe your printer did a reset and your address is wrong.

Xerox phaser 8500 ink sticks wrong shape


If the ink shapes are wrong on an 8560, it probably means that it was in the managed print version of Xerox - Someone was paying for prints, not for ink and the ink technically belonged to Xerox. Normal ink should fit fine and you should get your money back from the person who sold the ink (you will see the word "metered" on the box.

The Xerox support site indicates there is a paper jam to the printer, so you should check the paper tray, front and exit cover for any jammed paper then power off and back on the printer. When I print jpgs with the Xerox Phaser 6180, they print with a pink box around them


Have you tried loading a different print driver? I know the PS Driver is recommended for a phaser, but see if they have a PCL 5 or 6 and see if simply replacing the driver resolves the issue.

PDF documents do not print completely on my Xerox Phaser 8500


I am having the same problem. Sometimes my Xerox Phaser 8500 prints a PDF or web page fine, and other times I get pages and pages of what looks like PostScript code. I thought I had installed the most recent printer drivers, We are using primarily Macs with OS 10.4 or 10.5. One recent change is that we connected the printer to an Airport Express using a USB cable, which is sweet when it works correctly....any ideas???

Xerox 8500 will not recognize paper size


Hi Don,

Looks like you need to download the driver for 64 bit windows, I believe there have been some issues with 64 but hopefully this will help!

Try installing this driver - Windows PostScript PPD Driver Files - 32/64-bit

If you have Warranty Still, CALL XEROX!!!, That error message indicates that you have a failed temprature sensor inside the print-head, 90% chance Xerox will have to replace print-head. Print head is VERY expensive to replace out of pocket ($500-800+)

Xerox Phaser 8500 Pause


Go into Control panel, Open the Printers/View installed printers.

Right click on your printer, and remove the "Pause Printing" check mark.

Envolpe feed problem


I would first off try cleaning the feed roll in that tray well. That really sounds like slipping.
Go through all your programs and make sure that the driver machine and program you are running has the envelope settings the same.
Be sure they all match. Example. Make sure all the programs you are running through, have the settings for # 10 envelope, consistancy is needed for running envelopes. They are problematic.

That has to do with the process drive gear box. May be mis timed or a gear broken.

The front panel shows nothing


When our control panel went blank last month, Xerox did not offer a free replacement because our printer was out of warranty. Consequently, we ordered one from SparePartsWarehouse.com at the best price we could find - $104.87 plus shipping. The part number for our 8550dp is 848K06551, but these are the compatible part numbers for the "Xerox 8500 Control Panel & Bezel": Compatible Part Numbers: 848K06551, 101E28730, 101E28731, 802K93650, 802K93651, 848K06550, 848K06552. It is easy to replace, instructions are on the Xerox website at http://www.office.xerox.com/printers/color-printers/phaser-8500-8550/sprt-enus.html
