Macro focus

That is correct. None of Nikon's 70-300mm lenses are designed as macro lenses. They won't focus closer than about 1.5 meters or 5 feet.

I own a Nikon D5000 and am experiencing issues with the 55x200 lens. When trying to take a picture (on auto mode) of an item that is too close, I am hearing a squeaky noise (like the noise made my a VCR...

The 55-200mm lens does not focus closer than 1.1 meters (3.6 feet). If the subject is too close, then the autofocus tries and fails to focus or keeps trying (and squeaking). Either way, you won't be able to take a picture. In manual focus, you can take a picture but it will be out of focus and blurry.

Every lens has a minimum focus distance, closer than which it will not focus. Some lenses focus closer than others. It's a matter of design; making lenses focus closer makes them larger, heavier, and more expensive.

If you want to take close-ups, you have several options. You can buy close-up adapters that fit onto the front of a lens. You can buy a special close-up lens ("macro" or "micro" lens). You can buy extension tubes to fit between the camera and a lens.

What is the lense for taking a profetional picture from crafts (indoor)

By "crafts", do you mean things like figurines or models?

Most any lens (other than fisheyes or super-wide-angle) will work so long as the object is within the lens' focusing range.

If you need to shoot up close, you will either need close-focus filters (basically screw-on magnifying lenses) or a lens with "macro" capability. Other lenses typically cannot focus on objects closer than about two feet to the camera.

It also helps to have decent lighting, which cannot be controlled with the camera alone.

I HAVE A NIKON 60 AND NEED TO KNOW WHAT TYPE OF LENS TO GET

In order to get close to the subject, you need to be able to focus close. If you're using one of the kit lenses, you won't be able to get much closer than a foot or two.

In order of decreasing cost:
  • Special macro lenses are designed to focus closer, as close as a couple of inches, but they cost more.
  • Extension tubes fit between the camera and other lenses, allowing the lens to focus closer.
  • Close-up adapters fit in front of the lens, also allowing closer focus.
One major consideration with any type of close-up photography is lighting. Having the camera close to the subject tends to block out light. Two possible ways around this are: a tripod or other support, and an additional light source such as an external flash unit.

My camera won't focus when I'm trying to take a picture of something close up.

Try taking pictures of close-ups at 14mm setting on 14-42mm or buy the close-up lens that you can use on the filter ring of your zoom lenses lenses.

Focus Error

It's a message given when the internal lenses get jammed, possibly due to debris within the gears that move the focus. The "Focus Error" message can involve many FujiFilm models.

I just found my husbands old Minolta maxxum 5 AF Zoom lens camera. I don't know how to zoom in. I am trying to take close ups of my infant and it appears that I can only zoom in on objects 4 feet away....

It's not the fault of the camera itself, it's a lens issue. Zoom lenses can only get so close before the min focus is obtained. Unless you have a macro lens (not suited for portraits, which can focus down to mere inches. Most zooms aren't really designed for close focusing though there are higher end lenses that can be less than 1.5 feet.

Hope this helps!
