Did you check to see if anything has fallen down into the drain area. Occasionally a butter knife will fall to the bottom of mine where the drain area is, there's an aparature that spins, and stops the machine midcycle.

If your dishwasher fails to complete its cycle, there could be a problem with the timer switch. The timer is what guides the dishwasher thru its various stages.

If the dishwasher stays stuck in one cycle- doing one job continuously- or advances thru a few cycles and then stops, suspect a malfunctioning timer.

Purchase a replacement timer. Remove the front panel of the washer and find the switch. It is usually right behind the control knob. Snap a few digital photos of the wire assembly to simplify installation of the new switch. Simply remove the old switch and replace it with the new one.

Sometimes, a bad heating assembly can cause the washer to not advance past it initial starting point. On dishwashers that preheat the water, there are 2 methods to this. Some use a timer when heating the water, others use a temperature sensor. The ones with with a timer will advance the cycle irregardless of water temperature. If there is a problem with the heating element, then the water won't heat up and the washers with temperature sensors won't advance the cycle.

Hope that helps....

Hi,

try using a pin to poke the tiny holes in the arms that spin round. if they get blocked it will cause it to stop mid cycle

If that home remedy doesn't fix your problem then the problem can be with two things:
    1)Timer
    2)Control Board.

These two problems require physical presence of a tech to get it fixed.

Please don't forget to rate or accept the solution.

    Goodluck..

I think.
However, rarely have I encountered an inlet valve that emitted a burning smell. So I'd expect there to be some other problem in there.
But, if the inlet valve didn't pass the test, then it needs to be replaced. Plus, if it was stuck on the rinse cycle and the valve was out, then that is where the cycle would hang up.
Burning smells usually come from a motor, a belt, shorted wiring or a heating element. So if everything else checks out, then go for replacing the valve. The instructions are included in our dishwasher repair section.

Had the same problem. First you will need to tilt dishwasher back 45
degrees and tip out all excess water. A couple of towels on the floor
    are a good idea.

Second check that the little nozzle on the elbow under your sink where your overflow attaches is drilled out.

This fixed my problem after fussing around for a day and I was starting to disconnect everything to take it back.

Kenmore elite dishwasher model 630 Smart Wash light is flashing

You may want to try:
Press a series of four buttons in quick succession. Press "Heated Dry," "Normal Wash," "Heated Dry" and "Normal Wash" to instruct your Kenmore dishwasher to run a short diagnostic test.
Wait for two minutes while your Kenmore dishwasher runs its diagnostic test.
Press the "Cancel/Drain" button once your dishwasher has completed its diagnostic test. This should reset your dishwasher control panel.
Check to make sure that there's no standing water in the bottom of your dishwasher. Standing water in your dishwasher may indicate that your dishwasher has stopped mid-cycle. You will need to press the "Cancel/Drain" button before you can reset your dishwasher control panel.

Hi Indesit IDL700 Dishwasher. Stopped mid cycle by

The main processor was interuppted and so has hung up or is faulty. Remove the main plug and press on the control pad of the washing machine to drain off any residual voltage that is remaining on the main board and which seems to have hung up the processor. When the plug is plugged in and switch please hold down the start/stop button.
If there is no result after plugging in the machine then the main controller board is a suspect. You can remove the control board and check the connectors, check the main door switch , if possible clean the connectors/ contacts as a last chance.

Green start button won't stop blinking

START/RESET status indicator light flashing

You have pressed the indicator light flashing START/RESET pad while the START/RESET dishwasher is running. This will cancel the cycle. The light will stop flashing after the dishwasher drains (about 90 seconds).

Press the pad once to start the dishwasher. Press the pad a second time when the dishwasher is running only if you wish to cancel the cycle.

Power to the dishwasher was turned off while a cycle was running and power has just been restored to the dishwasher. The blinking lights indicate that the dishwasher is draining the potential water inside.

The light will stop flashing after the dishwasher drains. A new cycle will start automatically.

Good luck

Bauknecht GSX4756 dishwasher

I have this problem frequetly - it's an easy one to fix! Just press the programme button which changes the programme setting you want (on my built-in GSX4756 it's the last button on the right) and keep it pressed in until the beeping stops. Then start it again (will probably be on the rinse programme if it's like mine).
