DVD movies need a decoder installed before movies can be played on the computer/laptop.
A free video codec can be downloaded from the Internet, please click on this link and select a video codec :- www.free-codecs.com/index.htm
If you cannot play any movie on your laptop please donwload Klite codec pack from www.filehippo.com. Install this software and then you will be able to play all sort of movies including DVD's as these are the updations for the softwares required to play such files
Try Klite codec pack, and then play the dvd's in Windows Media player. Problems have been known to occur in Power Dvd. Klite codec pack can be foud at (http://www.free-codecs.com/K_lite_codec_pack_download.htm)
