    same problem but no solution

  • Anonymous Jul 31, 2008

As previously stated USB not recognised by both my XP PC or my Vista laptop, just the word Technika lights up on the MP3 player. Tried restoring the machine but don't know what else I can try?

I had this problem when I bought mine 2 days ago. I was about to take it back to Tesco when I tried to just charge it using a car cigar lighter socket to usb converter. Again it came up with Technika on the screen but this was soon replaced by the word "Charging".

I let it charge for a while and was then able to use the device as per the instructions.

It appears that the device cannot be used without being charged up slightly beforehand. I bought my 12v adapter for £3 - it's worth a try.

Hi nicholasharp...

You did not say which model you had so I copied what I could find in manuals for Technika MP3 Players. I am sure you will find the user manual to explain when your MP3 player is fully charged.
I will also include the generic way to hook up and download songs to your MP3 player.
Go to the webpages below and download your User Manual and Quick Guide.

4...Install all your music into Media Player that you want to install on your MP3 player.
5...Plug in your MP3 player to the computer using your Data/Sync cord, be sure that Windows Media Player is on.
6...Media player should recognize the MP3 player and sync with it.
7...After it is sync'ed with the computer, you can add the music you have installed into Windows Media Player to your MP3 Player.

Ilo Mp3 player

Remove the battery. While this isn't necessary to get the player into recovery mode, it insures the unit will not power on before the cable is inserted. On the iLO, hold the "Power" button down while inserting the USB cable. Continue holding the power button down for 5 seconds more after the cable is inserted. The backlight on the iLO will remain off during this time, making the screen appear to be blank. An hourglass should appear on you computer and Windows should say, "Found new Hardware 'SMTP3500". Launch the Rave-MP firmware update program (Start>Programs>Rave-MP> Firmware) Click "Get Firmware". Select "iLO256" and let it download new firmware. Click "OK" when prompted. Click "Update Firmware". It will now search for the iLO. This may take a while depending on how corrupted the firmware is, so be patient. After it has found the iLO, it will say, "A device has been detected in recovery mode and is being initialized. Please wait." The iLO should come back to life and start showing it's glorious "USB Connected" screen. The "Firmware Update" window should appear. Select "Format Data Area" to rid the player of corrupted firmware data. And click "Start". It can take anywhere from 2 to 4 minutes to re-flash the iLO and the program might appear to have locked up, but it hasn't. So don't close the program or disconnect the iLO! Why are you still reading this? Great, did something happen? Well, If the program fails to find the iLO and gives you an error like, "Device Timeout" or something similar, you need to reinstall the iLO drivers. This can be done by inserting the iLO cable into a USB port it has never been plugged into before. Or you can reinstall the drivers by reinstalling the Rave-MP program. (Remove it, restart the computer, and then install it again). Plugging it into a new USB port is the fastest and easiest option though. My Coby MP-610 won't open coby media manager.

1. Did your unit comes with Coby Media Manager? THere are two versions of this unit, one comes with and one doesnt. You can usually tell, if your unit came with an Installation CD, then it doesnt use Coby Media Manager

2. To access CMM - Start > My Computer> Double click the removable disk drive that looks like a 'C' with a big red circle, follow prompts to open Coby Media Manager.

3. IF you somehow formatted or deleted it, you can download a new copy from here:

I plugged in a recently bought Technika MP£ (MP-508) to the PC and it showed an error and would not recognise the set. Despite disconnecting and re-booting the computer I cannot get any glimmer of...

Contacted the support number as nothing heard on your site, it seems there is a problem with some Technika MP3 Players that the system for setting up on the computer has been corrupted. the result is that the computer cannot recognise the MP3 as a drive. alas I have to return the item and have been advised for now not to buy a Technika MP3 until the problem has been resolved.

I hope this may help anyone else with the same problem, they need to contact the support help line
