If anyone can help it would be appreciated. This computer is pretty old. Originally came with ME. now has XP and I need to swap out the ethernet card. But for the life of me, no matter how many screws I take out or plastic pieces I snap off, I cannot open the case to get to the ethernet card. It has to be possible. someone please help!

Have the same Gatway (Gateway flexatxstc essential 700c), but no problem getting the case opened and can get to the PCI expansion slots. But and installing Bell Sough (AT&T) DSL (3 mb) and would like to know a compatible Ethernet Card to use (or one that is available and will work). Still has Me installed. Having trouble identifying a compatible card. Any ideas.

You need to take out the front piece then depress the two buttons on the side to slide the case out.

How old is this computer? You probably need either an AGP or PCI graphics card

What size hard drive goes in a micro atx bry essential 466c

It doesn't matter what size the drive is (in GB, not physical size) and anything over 20 gigs or so is acceptable for just checking email and using office. You will need an IDE drive and just in case you were asking for physical dimensions they are standard for PCs... 3.5 x 5.79 x 1.03 inch

Operating system not found problem

Easiest way to check is to change the cable and run your computer again! If you have same problem occures it does not mean that your hard drive is wrong.Just intert the boot CD and try to repair it if that fails or crashes or simply restart your computer then you have problem with hard drive!

I have a Gateway laptop computer with XP. It originally had 512mbs of memory. I bought 2gigs of memory and installed it. It worked lightening-fast for about one day. Here is what happened: My wife...

I was initially confused about the addition of the Dell laptop in the plot before realizing what you are saying:

I think its your RAM. Did you ground yourself while removing or replacing the ram to prevent static shock from damaging the device or memory sticks?

If not, try getting another 512 stick (pretty cheap) from best buy for your gateway and testing it out. Save the receipt.

Also, post the model of your gateway laptop as some computers can not handle large amounts of ram. Most will only allow up to 2x the original amount.

Gateway Flexatxstc BRO Essential 700c

884f672.jpgBasically in the way of wiring if it fits it goes there. There is nothing to jam. The picture shows PS/2 ports the one closest to the edge is the keyboard port the one next to it is for mice. Your best bet for an operating system is to purchase XP Home, you may need to upgrade your memory to keep up with XP. But price it out first it might not be cost effective.
