Question about Dryers

Open Question

Bosch WTA 3100 Dryer - The large round fuse which is fitted just where the electric cables enter the back of the machine has blown but I don't know what to call the part or where to get a replacement. The parts firm I approached says he needs more of a model number that WTA 3100GB but that's all that's on the machine.

Same Machine.Mains light glows when switched on but it wont turn over. Checked the cut out on the door. It cuts in and out correctly ie when door opened or shut tight with mains light on or off accordingly. Must be standard prob. Views before I start stripping down?

SOURCE: Bosch Dryer misfunction

Check the fuse. This is a German unit, so every part including the light bulb is 208/240 volts. If the fuse for the dryer on the back is open the unit will not start.

SOURCE: Bosch Axxis WTA 4400 dryer

if you can hear a whirring then the motor is probably spinning, and the problem may just be a broken belt.

If no sound, then probably power not getting to motor via PCB

SOURCE: Bosch WTA 3100 Tumble Dryer ON/OFF switch

The on/off switch is combined with the door release switch in one item - part number 154145 (a little over £20) and my problem was the door interlock bit had failed. The following worked for me :
Plug out, remove top panel, and open door + look up at switch panel - you see 5 slots under the switch panel (the 2 outer ones are mostly covered by the main front panel). Start at either side and work across, using as wide-bladed a screwdriver as will fit across the slot width : put a wood block under blade as a support and lever bottom of panel towards front - each has a plastic pin behind pointing towards the rear, held by a spring clip. Each will pop clear and when all are unclipped you rotate the panel outwards from the bottom edge, taking the timer knob and its drive linkage with it. To get switch out I removed the door and the screws around the main front panel - one is hidden behind a cover plug below the access port (to gain access to bottom screws on main panel, lever the bottom panel outwards along its top edge).

SOURCE: bosch tumble dryer, model wta 4100 , no heat,

If the dryer isn't heating, check for a blown thermal fuse or a faulty heating element. Both components can be tested using a multimeter or ohmmeter. Check for continuity. A lack of continuity indicates a faulty component. Both components are located in the rear of the dryer. The thermal fuse is about an inch long and is usually attached to or near the exhaust duct. Hope this helped and best wishes.

Where do I find the reset button on the Bosch WTA 3100 tumble dryer?

Hi,

It would be at the rear of the machine. You need to remove the rear cover which is secured by Self-Tapping screws. Cover would be almost circular in shape and the button is in the position 10 o'clock looking from the rear.

Let me know, if need further assistance.

Hope i helped you.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

I have a bosch dryer WTA3510. My dryer is 5 yrs old and it stopped working. Electrical power is good but the dryer doesn't turn. Is there a fuse on this machine?

Check for a blown thermal fuse. It's about an inch long and is usually located in the rear of the dryer attached to or near the exhaust duct. It can be tested using a multimeter or ohmmeter. Check for continuity. A lack of continuity means a blown thermal fuse. Sorry for your trouble and I hope this helped. Best wishes.

How far should the dryer vent be from the wall to the dryer?

No, you do not want the dryer vent crushed at all. Go to Home Depot and find a 4 inch adjustable 90 or something along that line. The problem will be that your clothes will dry for alittle while and then you will stat noticing longer and longer dry times
