Please, I've also got this challenge,

I have a 3G Internet connection (via PCMCIA slot) on my HP 530 laptop and I want my P1i to share that connection.

Yesterday I set up a wireless network also on my laptop that I could view AND connect to from my P1i.

However I still cant connect/access my 3G connection or the internet at all from my phone.

    Can U please help?

Had the same problem but some how fixed it. WLAN connected blue ball displayed but the page didn't open.. well this is what i did and it worked...
I went to my router and opened the section for wireless access point or the access control. I dint turn on the access control mine is still an open network but the was a list displaying available access cards connected to the router..in that my laptop and my P1i showed and i added them to the access control list( even though i didn't check the box to turn access control..wiered) but it worked and im browsing.. now when i check the connected devices ..it shows the P1i tooo.. soo the fix is in the router...none other solutions abt router worked except this one AND i use operamini and not the default browser.. .. am I A GENIUS?

I need to connect to the internet

hi,

The capability to access the Internet is commonly referred to as GPRS, 1x/CDMA and/or 3G.

The settings for accessing the Internet (APN, username, password) vary from mobile operator to mobile operator. If your mobile phone is not currently configured for it (e.g for downloading games, ringtones, surfing the internet from your mobile browser...):

1. have your phone's manufacturer and model name ready
2. contact your mobile operator to request the Internet access settings
3. you should get the settings sent to your phone in an SMS message
4. save these settings as your default settings

In case you have all the information for the settings but you need/want to manually configure your phone, the instructions for doing it depend on the manufacturer and model name of your phone.

Phone manufacturers often help either in configuring your phone by sending you an SMS, or in publishing the instructions to be followed for manual configuration. Visit your mobile phone manufacturer's web site to see how they can help you:

If your phone is a Windows Mobile device, follow these steps to configure your device to access the Internet:

1. enter the Start menu
2. select Settings
3. open the Connection tab
4. select Connection
5. open the Advanced tab
6. select Select Network, then New
7. select Cellular Line (GPRS, 3G)
8. enter the data specific to your operator

Hope this guide help you.

Don't forget to rate me. Thanks...

Regards,
John

Phone showing communication error while setting up gmail

I believe you should firstly configurate your wifi connection with the wireless router, and after testing your connection (using your internet explorer for example) you will not receive any connection problems while configuring you gmail account.

Bluetooth Internet Connection Problem

You have established a bluetooth connection between your Palm and your PC, but you probably haven't configured your internet connection to be shared with the Palm. o do so, open My Network Places by right-clicking it and selecting Properties. The Bluetooth Network adapter was automatically created during the Bluetooth installation. Right click the icon and select Properties. In the General tab select the Internet Protocol components and click Properties. Write down all the information from the next dialog, and click Cancel. Back in the Adapter properties, select the "Sharing" tab and check "Enable Internet Connection Sharing for this connection". Now, to configure the Bluetooth USB, right-click the Bluetooth icon in the system tray and select Advanced Configuration. Change to the Local Services tab and double click "Network Access". Change the type of service to "Allow other devices to acces the Internet/LAN via this computer". The alternative to this option will allow your device to connect to your computer as part of a LAN, but will not have internet access. Note the Configure Connection Sharing button: it'll open the configuration screens we've visited before. But some Bluetooth software will not have this button, hence I guided you through the other route . On your Palm device, a new Connection configuration is needed. From the Palm Launcher open the Prefs application, and switch to Connection. You'll see a list of connections and will tap the New... button. You can assign any meaningful name to this connection. Select the values as indicated in this image. Tap the device name to choose what computer will be used for this connection. Make sure your computer is in discoverable mode. If you tap the Details button you'll see the next screen. Now create a new Network access configuration, using the connection created in the previous steps. Tap Network to go to the next screen. Tap the New... button and enter a name for your Network access configuration. You shouldn't need a username and password. Tap the Connect button and you should see your LAN connection initiating. To make sure the connection is working, still in the Connect dialog, tap the menu Preferences and select Options. Choose View Log and the screen you see will show the negotiation between the Palm and the DHCP server on the network. To check your DNS is working, scroll to the bottom of this log, and enter PING and a hostname. Use the Return stroke as an Enter and If your connection does not complete, or if your Palm shows a Timeout error, try adding a script to this connection. This is common with Palm OS 4. Newer versions of Palm OS should not need any script to work. From the Network dialog, tap the Details button. On the next dialog tap the Script button. On this script dialog enter the following: SEND CR DELAY 1 SEND CLIENT WAITFOR CLIENTSERVER END Hope this works!
