I have a problem. When I lift my Kodak Easyshare 5100 access door, the ink cartridges are supposed to move to the middle to be able to remove them. Nothing moves. How do I change the cartridges?? Please help! Just bought this unit.
I had same problem. After reading your problem reports.. I lifted the lid and pushed the 'Start' button .. doing this only makes the cartridges go back and forth twice. On the second time I grabbed the black and squeezed it and pulled it out... then I hit the 'Start' button again and as it flew by, I grabbed the empty slot where the black had been with my finger and pulled it to the center. I held it while the sounds ran their course. Replaced the color cartridge with the new one, replaced the black one I had removed, closed the lid and pushed the 'on' button. Then pushed the 'on' button again and it ran through it's opening sequence and works like a charm. I know a lot of work to change a cartridge, but better than sending back and getting another piece of junk. BTW it prints as great as it did when I first bought it . At Ollies for $49.00 'refurbished'..
I just found this site. My printer is junk. I had this same problem.
Kodak advised me to take cover off back and turn the wheel towards the back 3 full rotations. Did help me so was told to grasp the printhead and try to manuelly pull. No help so they where sending me a new printer. I am not very good at waiting, so I knew I had a new one coming so I took pliers and pulled on it, WAHLA it worked. Sent it nack anyway. This new one is worst than the first one. I just want my money back and go back to my HP.
Good luck Vicky

To replace an ink cartridge on a Kodak ESP C310 follow these steps:
1) Make sure your printer is on.
2) Lift the printer access door, and wait for the carriage to move to a position where you can access it. The ink cartridges are located in the printhead.
3) Pinch the tab on the ink cartridge.
4) Lift the ink cartridge out of the printhead.
5) Remove the new ink cartridge from its bag.
IMPORTANT:To prevent the printhead from drying out, insert the ink cartridge into the printhead immediately.
6) Remove the protective cap from the cartridge.
7) Insert the ink cartridge into the printhead.
8) Press down on the ink cartridge tab until you hear a click.
9) Close the printer access door.
Well, I don't think FixYa sent you the new replacement, but it was supposed to be sent by Kodak I guess. Anyway, here's the instructions on how to remove/install or in other words, how to replace the printhead.
Verify that the printer is turned on and there are no error conditions.
Open the printer access door and allow the printhead carriage to move to the center position.
Remove the black and color ink cartridges.
Disconnect the printhead by pressing the button in the upper-left corner of the carriage, then remove the printhead.
Insert the printhead into the carriage.
Place your thumb over the target label and push in firmly with your right thumb until you hear a loud snap.
Check that the latch captures the printhead.
Insert the color ink cartridge into the printhead.
Press down on the color ink cartridge until you hear it click into position.
Repeat Steps 8-9 for the black ink cartridge.
Close the printhead access door.
*Follow upto step 5 to remove the printhead, I just included the remaining steps for your information.
Let me know if you need further help.
Thanks for using FixYa.
Make sure you install the correct type of KODAK Ink Cartridge for your printer. Currently we offer two types of ink cartridges (10 Series and 30 Series). Installing the wrong type of ink cartridge may result in this error. You will need to install a new, correct type of KODAK Ink Cartridge. NOTE: For more information, see Which ink cartridges to buy for all-in-one printer.
If you are using the correct type of KODAK Ink Cartridge, reinstall the color ink cartridge.
Wait until the printhead is idle and silent, then pinch the latch on the color ink cartridge with your thumb and forefinger and lift it out of the printhead.
Install the color ink cartridge back into the printer, making sure to press down on the thumb tab until it clicks into place.
Close the printer access door. For printers with LCDs, follow the instructions on the LCD screen. For more information on installing ink cartridges, see the Extended User Guide for your printer. Review Maintaining Your Printer - Replacing ink cartridges.
If the error continues, restart your printer:
Turn off the printer by pressing the power button.
Wait five seconds.
Turn on the printer.
If the error continues, and you have extra, new KODAK Ink Cartridges on-hand, try to install a new ink cartridge (or a set of new ink cartridges).
Lift the door then unplug. Slide your fingers under the cartridge carrier and check for paper debris or other obstructions. If none are found try sliding the cartridges out gently to the middle then replug and see if this resets it. If that doesn't cure the problem unplug again and move the cartridges to the opposite side of the bar as far as it will go then replug. Now close the lid and wait for a self check. If nothing happens you may have a broken belt.
