Question about Audio & Video Receivers

1 Answer

I was given "ALTEC LANSING ATP3 MULTIMEDIA 3PC SPEAKERS " However, It is missing the cable that plugs into the "input" that connects it to the PC. I realize I could probably buy one somewhere but, I just can't. I do have many, many, PC cords of various types. My problem is I don't know exactly what cord it is I need. Could any one help me? I'm sure I might have it, I literally have at least 30 boxes filled with PC cords.

The cord you are looking for, that plugs into the "input" of the speaker and the speaker output (green) audio connector of your sound card looks like a plug for a pair of headphones. It will have the same type of connector on both ends, the male connector.

it is a 3.5mm male mini stereo plug at both ends.

Headphones have two type of plugs, the 3.5mm or the 1/4 inch jacks. The headphones for personal audio devices like an mp3 player, ipod or the like have a 3.5 mm, most older and some newer receivers have the bigger 1/4 inch jack for headphones.

so look at a pair of headphones, notice the plug on it, and then find one that has that same plug but on both ends of the cord.

If you need more help let me know, and if you found this advice helpful a "FixYa" rating would be appreciated.

Headphone jack is an output not input jack. Your going to need a cord to go from your headphone jack(output) of your phone to audio input on your receiver. The cord has a mini stereo plug to the phone and RCA plugs of left and right to your receiver auxiliary input. Good luck..

Can i connect altec lansing expressionist classic speakers to a TV? if so, how? THX!

If your TV has a variable audio output, yes.

Plug them in directly to a compatible 3.5 mm output or adapt an RCA audio output to 3.5mm with a connector available at any electronics store like radio Shack.

In your TV audio menu select "variable" for the audio out. Otherwise they'll always be at maximum volume.
