Bought a new sd card and the tascam dr-1 reads it as protected

SD cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the metal contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card.

I want to unprotected or write protection off my SD card by using usb card reader

It's the card, not the reader. SD cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card. If the switch is already in the proper position, slide it fully the other way and then back again.

It is easier to get a SD memory card for it. Drag and drop the music onto the window which represents the SD memory card and then just put the SD memory card into the GPX MP3 player. I have the same MP3 player and it works nice... it was a good deal for the money! Take the savings and invest in a cheap SD memory card and you will be happy.... I was!
:-) Good Luck!

How do I unlock a write protected sd card

Take the SD card out and look for a little switch on it, hit the switch and plug it back in.
That should've worked, if it didn't look on the instructions.

Hope that helped, If it didn't reply with more details.

SD card in MP3 player

Was the SD card in the MP3 player when you loaded the songs or did you load them some other way?  You may have to first put the SD card in the MP3 player first, then load the songs onto the player.
