In my Professional opinion of which I repair these all day long, NO Plasma 3-4 years old is worth that amount of money. The first time it goes down you "will" put it to rest....Guaranteed!
Please don't do it!
Turn off the TV then unplug it. Disconnect the cable connection and clean the terminals. If the stripes still exist, you have a bad TCP (tape carrier package). It is responsible in transmitting color information to the display panel from the X-Drive (A-Bus) Board. This is not an easy repair. Service of an experienced or a qualified technician is recommended.

Before Opening, double check something for me and post a follow up. I have this tv and I believe it has dual power buttons. One main and one secondary. A remote can't turn it on unless the main power button on the bottom left is on.
Please post follow up.
