Question about Compaq Presario SR1103WM-B (PC183B#ABA) PC Desktop

1 Answer

Blank screen I got the computer back on. Stupid error on my part about power supply not working. I tried pressing f1 when starting the computer but nothing happens. It's almost like the keyboard is not recognized either. Is that possible? I tried a different keyboard too.

The computer starts then shuts down.

Try booting up the computer pressing whatever key the Dell needs to boot into BIOS (F10, Delete key, F1...pay attention to the screen) and leave the computer on for about 15min. See if it cuts off then. If it does its more than likely your power supply. If it doesn't then its not hardware related.

Resolving the blank screen Follow the instructions below in order to fix this issue:

Wont load anything including bios

Sounds like your operating system has been damaged and no longer works. You will need to reinstall it.

If its xp then u will need to put the hard drive in another pc to back up any data. If its vista then all your old files will be stored in windows.old on the c drive as long as u dont format it during install.

Hope this helps?

Blue screen when starting up

just double check the keyboard connection if it's ps2 type connector; if it's a usb mouse it won't work cos the drivers have not loaded. Only other solution is to remove right side panel of pc and locate the JBAT1 terminal and move jumper from pins 1-2 to pins 2-3 for a few seconds and back again. Turn on pc and then hopefully you can access the bios to set the time and date and save settings then re start.
