Yes!! replace your cable and STOP using the one you have. chances are if it is shutting off the camera it has a short in it and my kill the camera. i had a bad cable kill a cell phone once. it was doing the same thing. the new phone it did the same thing when i plugged in the cable. i replaced the cable and it worked fine.

you could have damaged the cable by bending it too much or pulling on the cord instead of the head of the cable to unplug it. a cable that is plugged and unplugged often will go bad quicker. Better cables will last longer. i like Nokia cables. they seam to have the longest life. If one of the USB cables that fits a Nokia phone is the same as the one that fits your camera then get one from them. if not belkin has some good cables too.

My computer no longer recognizes my nikon coolpix L5.

If your photos are stored on the memory card, then remove the memory card from the camera and insert it into an USB memory card reader. Connect this USB memory card reader and memory card into the USB port of your working computer. Your computer will see this as an USB Mass Storage Device or an external storage device; you can then open the folder on the memory card and copy the photos to your computer. Memory card reader is a handy device and is inexpensive. You can copy photos from other cameras and you can also download photos off your memory card to someone else's computer without the need of installing any programs.

I have been using my G11 with no problems for a year. Just tried to download pix and keep getting "Communication error". Checked the cord, it's fine, turned camera off and on several times,...

Hi !!

Please read this carefully and see if you are doing everything correctly. Also you need to connect camera to power source. And use the Original USB cable that came with camera.
Connect the camera to your computer with the dedicated USB cable so that they can communicate. You can connect the camera while your computer is running.

  • When you connect the camera to your computer, be sure to follow the procedure below.
  • Never perform the following operations while the software installed from the SOLUTION DISK is running after connecting the camera to the computer, as a communications error may occur:
    • Turn the camera OFF.
    • Open the memory card/battery slot cover.
    • Disconnect the dedicated USB cable or remove the battery.
    • Disconnect the DC coupler (optional) or unplug the AC adapter (optional) or power cord.
Before you perform the operations below, be sure to exit the software being used.

Plug the dedicated USB cable into the computer.

  • Plug the cable into the USB port on the computer.
  • The location of the port differs depending on your computer. Refer to the User's Manual for your computer for details.
Plug the dedicated USB cable into your camera.
Open the cover and plug the cable connector into the terminal and make sure it is plugged in all of the way.

Turn on the camera
(Playback mode) by switching the mode switch to
(Playback) on the back of the camera.

  • Use only the dedicated USB cable to connect the camera to your computer.
  • Push the plug firmly all the way into the socket. Loose connections can cause faults or malfunctions.
  • Connect the camera to the computer directly using the dedicated USB cable. The camera and computer may not operate correctly if you connect them via a hub or you connect to multiple USB devices.
  • The connection may not operate correctly if you are using other USB devices, excluding USB mouse or keyboards, at the same time. If this occurs, disconnect the other USB devices from the computer and try reconnecting the camera.
  • Do not connect more than one camera to the same computer. The connections may not operate correctly.
  • While the camera and your computer are communicating, the camera's LCD panel may blink and, if you are using the LCD monitor, the image on the monitor may flicker. This is not a malfunction.
  • When unplugging the dedicated USB cable, be sure to grip the sides of the plug as you pull it out.
  • If you do not perform any operation while the camera and computer are connected, a confirmation message appears on the computer screen asking whether you wish to continue communicating with the camera for some computer systems. If you do not perform any operation even after this message appears, the communication with the camera is terminated. To re-establish communication, press the shutter button down halfway or set turn off the camera then turn it back on.
  • Do not put the computer to sleep while it is connected to the camera. If you do put your computer to sleep while it is connected to the camera, never disconnect the dedicated USB cable while your computer is still in sleep mode. Always wake your computer up before disconnecting the camera. On some types of computers, disconnecting the dedicated USB cable while your computer is in sleep mode could prevent the computer from waking up correctly. Refer to the computer's User's Manual for more information on sleep mode.
  • When the camera is connected to a computer, you should use the AC Adapter Kit ACK-DC10 (optional) so that you can continue using the camera regardless of battery level.

My camera usb is lost! HELP!

Most Fuji dealers can get you one (if not in stock). A better solution is a card reader that you plug into a USB port with your camera's memory card in it. Cheaper, faster and easier to get than a new cable. Ask at any photo or electronics shop for a Secure Digital, single-card reader.

How to I download pictures onto my computer?

Do you have the base the Easy Share sits on and is onnected to your PC or are you just using a cable? If using docking base and the software is installed correctly you just set camera in base and press the button. Although even sometimes mine doesnt work right so I treat it as though it is just plugged into my PC via a cable. Dont plug in camera to usb cable yet. Open Windows explorer and when you see your various drives like c: , d:, for hard drive and CD/DVD than plug the usb cable to your camera. The camera might need to be turned on and plug the power supply you charge the camera with in as well. Once you plug in the usb cable and you see removeable disk ?: pop up that will be it. You than right click that new drive choose explore and keep dbl. clicking the folders until you see DCIM. There you should see the picture files. In your command bar at top of windows explorer choose view and make sure Thumbnails is checked and you should see previews of your images. You can than use the option on left panel to copy to destination or just choose select all or ( ctrl-A ) that will highlight all files than drag and drop onto a designated folder on your c: drive, or right click copy or cut and than paste. dont remember but if still having problem make sure camera power switch is on. I have same camera so if still cant get it message me back or call. 559-930-9688
