How to download the OS firmware?

Hi, I'm in the process of restoring a Masterlink, and have just done what you are trying to do. Go to this link:

Read through the materials and then go into "Docs and Downloads" and there you will find the "System Software Update Guide", which explains how to determine which OS version you need based on your serial number, so you can create the ISO disc for the OS you need. I suggest you print it out for easy reference. Then download and unzip the OS files and create your Operating System ISO CD. The instructions are pretty clear so if you're methodical you should have no problems getting up and running soon. Have fun!

G-spot Codec Information Appliance installer for Windows and U3P

I have been using this for years to find the bitrates for DivX movie files wrt VBR or CBR (the former will not work on standalone DVD player with DivX format.

Unfortunately the last official installer was with v2.2.1.4 however using this trick you can install the latest files now at v2.7.0.1 over the original files available HERE on my Sky Drive aka v2.70a build 200070222 as shown below in the screendump

  • Install the v2.2.1.4 version as normal using the exe file
  • Copy the four latest v. files to the G-spot folder
  • Remove the Gspot21.dat file (from the v2.2.1.4 version)
  • Open as normal using the shortcuts.
The original uninstaller will also work however it will leave the Gspot27.dat behind as this was not part of the original filenames.

I have also included my own U3P versions for SanDisk USB stick drives for completion

Using VirtualDub as a FrameServer with TMPGEnc for MPEG2 Logo Removal

'VirtualDub was originaly codec for MPG4 video with XVid and DivX codes but it can be used with the MPG fcchandle plug-in to open an MPG2 video stream and then use the same Logo removal filters designed for AVI all you then need to do is export the frames TMPGEnc to produce a HQ MPG2 video stream for DVD authoring.

To use VirtualDub as a FrameServer you must install the DLL files to enable this, to do this double click the AuxSetup.exe file in the VirtualDub folder.

Once this has been done all you need to do is Start the FrameServer in VirtualDub's menu the TMPGEnc v2.525.64.184 FE it has its own VFAPI Client plugin that will read the VFP that VirtualDub's FrameServer will produce. All you need to do then is to select a suitable template to encode your DeLogo video into DVD standard MPEG file Variable Bitrate will give you the best file quality. Unfortunately this MPG2 encoder will only allow you to encode the audio track into LPCM (large), MP1 or MP3 if your original audio track is AC3 (dolby) you may experience audio lag errors and have to compensate using an audio lag in the Virtualdub

I then use ConvertXtoDVD4 from VSOsoftware to author the DVD as my preferred choice.

You will notice that the FrameServer number of Frames Served will always be slightly ahead of the receiving FrameClient this is normal if the Client only recieved some of the Frames it is likely to fail on the MPG2 conversion.

If the MPG2 encoder that you are using won't allow you to open the default VDF file that is used then you need to enable the AVIProxy by importing the proxyon.reg tweak included with VirtualDub then start the FrameServer then open the AVI file in your mpg2 editor

You can also use these two alternative codec free encoders from RealMedia and WindowsMedia if TMPGEnc is not for your needs. registration required

Can't open SLC files from our IP TV set-top box HDD

Hi John
Please don't forget to rate may answer!

Just open VLC (make sure you have the latest version) then click
option 1) Media > Open Folder choose the drive / folder containing the SLC files then hit the "Select Folder" button.
option 2) Media > Open Multiple Files > Add Files > mark all the SLC files then then hit the "Open" button.

If VLC fails Try Media Player Classic!

Hope this solves your problem
Best Regards

Want except the os file

I found that downloading and writing of the OS to a CD was operating-system dependant - I spent ages trying to get an OS downloaded through WIndows Vista to work, with no luck, but when I found a previous OS disc that I'd created with XP, that worked fine.

DVD+RW Formats

What Operating System do you have?
What you need is a DVD authoring program. You have a plethora of programs for Linux (K3b, DVDAuthor...) and for Windows, it depends on the Version (XP: Windows Movie Maker, Vista: Windows DVD Maker).
Just open the concerned program, create a new project, add your movie and burn your DVD!

I am using the recorder to store video from a security video camera. Once I have video on the disk I can play it back on my Vista computer in media player but the file save as is not active. What can I...

If your recorder is creating a disc full of .vob files, it's pretty simple.
Copy the .vob files to your harddrive, and rename them as .mpg files.

If it is saving them as .VRO files, you can do the same, but will it will be a RAW mpg file containing the whole disc. Not bad if you just want it as an archive, BUT if you ever need to review it for seeking, you're stuck at realtime review. trying to fast-foward/reverse/etc. will cause errors in most software. In VLC, I have an accurate time played count, but no total time.
