i have the same problem. I had to take the whole thing apart and found that the red filter has a burn pattern in it. I am still trying to find a red filter for it.

Probably bad convergence amp ICs on the signal board.NOT something to tackle unless you are experienced tech.because they will sometimes open resistors in the circuit also.

Hazy yellow spot in the left lower corner of the screen


It could be a cob web inside the tv or something laying on one of the guns, like a dead bug. If it's a cob web, you should be able to move the tv a little side to side and see it change from the moving air current. I would remove the back and vacuum off the lenses of the guns and look for cob webs. It's safe to touch and clean the lenses, just don't touch any electronics.If this doesn't fix it, it's probably fluid starting to cloud up in the guns or IC chip problems.

the lcd panels in the optics block are going bad, getting dirty etc., the block needs replacing and will cost upwards of $750.00 total.
google sony optics for your model for warranty extension possibilities.

Go to this link and click on the contact linkon the lower left side of the home page and leave the measurements of your screen top to bottom and side to side. They have used assemblies just measure what you see right up to the edge of the frame and they will add the extra 1/4 inch for whats inside the frame.

Common problem with the older projection Magnavox TV set. The opto IC chip has failed. Try www.magnavoxhelp.com - They have instructions and kits on their site.
