The problem you are having is the unit is going into protect.

You can try disconnecting all the speakers and then see if it turns on. If it does turn on you may only have a bad speaker.

Then just turn the unit off and plug in one speaker at a time. If it still turns on, that speaker is good. Keep doing this with each speaker until it goes into protect again, and then you know the last speaker plugged in is the bad one. Make sure you turn it off after checking each speaker.

If it still goes into protect with all speakers disconnected you most likely have a problem in the amplifier circuit.

I have the complete service manual in PDF format with parts list and schematics, but it cost $10.00
Let me know if you want to purchase it and I will give you instructions for that. I can give you a direct download link after purchase using PayPal.

If you would like any further help just let me know.

I have tv hooked up to the pioneer but the TV will not play its sound through the speakers? what Am I doing wrong? I have the DVD hooked to the Pioneer and it works fine.

Is the unidentified TV a sound source from the SX-315's perspective? Is it's audio output enabled whene the TV volume is down? Would the Cable Box be a BETTER source?

Dead no power.. checked main fuse, worked fine last night, went to turn it on today and nothing. its a sx-316 not sx-315, I say this because it tells me this is not a valid model#, but sx316 is printed on...

Check the resistance of the primary on the main power transformer, (with power off) should be 1-3 ohms. If open you need a new transformer.

If good turn it on and check for ac voltage (120v) there.

My sx-315 pioneer receiver overheated and shut down.

Probably the thermal fuse in the main power transformer. Check for ac on both the primary and secondary of the transformer. If you have 120v ac on the primary when the standby light is off and nothing on the secondary you need a new transformer.

Pioneer model sx-315 shuts off

if you are hearing noises from inside the amp, then something is burning up. Your sense of smell may be a guide here too. I suggest taking the amp to a tech to repair it unless you have had some experience with repairing amps
