As far as I know with that PC, there are 4 slots for RAM. Depending on what you have installed already some of those slots will be used.

Turn the PC off, unplug the power cable and turn case on its side. Remove the cover from the side and you should be able to see the Motherboard and the spare slots. Simply push the new RAM chips in to the available slots and click them into place.

Close the case, plug back in and boot up. You should see the PC memory checking then it'll boot. Check the RAM has been picked up by PC by right clicking on 'my computer' and going to properties. It should now show the amount of RAM you have installed.

I want to update my graphyc card to ASUS PCI-E ATIRADEON 7770. IS IT COMPATIBLE WITH MY MOTHERBOARD PACKARD BELL RIO ID0027?

Hi there,
If your PC has a PCI-Express graphics slot, then there should be no reason why the graphics card should not work. Make sure you have the correct drivers for your graphics card and it should all be fine.
Best wishes,
Graeme.

My Packard Bell ipower PC is 3 years old and was supplied with 2GB RAM but now says 1GB in system properties - also says "new hardware detected" - has 1GB of the RAM stopped working?

> has 1GB of the RAM stopped working?

Yes, or that 1GB stick of RAM is not "seated" properly into its slot.

Turn the computer off.
Disconnect the AC power cord.
Remove one stick of RAM.
Reconnect the AC power.
Start the computer, and see if reports "zero" RAM or "1GB" of RAM.

Repeat with the other stick of RAM.

> "new hardware detected"

That's a quite-different problem -- changing RAM does _NOT_ cause this message.

Your RAM is not working properly. Remove your RAM from your RAM slot brush it with a dry brush and reattach in your RAM slot, if not then your RAM slot is damaged.

Installing a 2nd 256m ram memory card into packard bell imedia3501

Installing more memory to a pc is very universal and is done the same way into all computers out there.

First unplug your pc

Open the side cover or remove the cover debending on your pc case.

Turn the pc sideways on the floor or table
and locate the memory slots near the cpu.

In this pc we have 3 memory modules installed
In this case I would have to remove one of the original memory modules first before installing a new one.

But in your computer you should have a extra slot open.

Simply insert the memory into the slot and turn the white switches on the sides to lock the memory in.

And you are done.
