Yes you will need to solder in the resistors. How you check them is by unsoldering one side of the resistor and lifting it out of circuit and checking it for resistance. Ifd its open you will get no reading. If it reads less or more than 5 % of its rating it will need to be changed as well as it can weaken the Ics and they can end up failing if a weak resistor is left in circuit.
